The Abbot pub was being bigged up by an acquaintance at the weekend

He's a folk musician, albeit an excellent one, so maybe he just likes it for the diddly-diddly soundtrack, the beer made from voles' nests, and wifies with beards (like Mrs Richard Gough, it was rumoured).

Day oot on Jan 7th. Only ever played fitba there (once)and passed through on the train.

Are there a few pubs?

I prefer my beer to be made from owl feather and pease pudding

montrose does have a lot of pubs for the size o the place, dont know many of them though, but i have been in busbys once ,right across from the police station, but that is more of a night club for 'alternative liberal emo type ' people or so it seemed that night, another thing there seems to be a few murders in the town every now and then ! or you could travel a bit further south to arbroath the station seems to be the' football pub' in the town but its horrible in side

I it can be bloody cold at Links Park but if you've not been to Gayfield yet on cold windy day then you will experience phucking freezing.

What pubs did you get to ?

Picture Hoos, Market Arms and the Royal Arch

I remember a Dons Scottish cup tie at Gayfield about 9 year ago . The coldest game ive ever been at by mile(even colder than Lokomotiv Moscow at Pittodrie)

The Market Arms is a great pub. Pity you never made it to Catsers, my local.

The three coldest grounds in Scotland are Arbroaths, Aberdeens and Inverness. If the wind is coming off the sea in the middle of winter in any of them grounds by phuck it's worse then cold.
Was at a Millwall game at the Den a year past November and it was unbelievably cold. The missus had to buy extra clothing from their shop to keep warm. Couldn't believe it could be that cold in South London

Pittodrie & Gayfield are almost tropical compared to Broadwood.

Spent two weeks in Montrose once. Nothing remarkable happened. The one thing that sticks in my mind is having to ask for a little more milk for a cup of coffee I ordered. Apart from that it was pretty uneventful.
