Just a note to say that there are a few paragraphs duplicated in that piece.
Apart from that, thanks oldcolner for another memory.

Jimmy came to Rishton schools to teach us, to unravel the mysteries of what we did not know.Perhaps what he taught us, I have passed on to our village youth here ?? :-)

Nice to hear that. Did Any stars come from Rishton.
He could gave given much more if he had been involved with the club. Must have been hard living in the town and not being involved when so many if his former team mates were there.

All I know was Martin Dobson. Not sure if I played against him as I played for Accy schoolboys, he played at Clitheroe .....but could have had another brother ,now its all memory and fading

Did you play with Bobby Radcliffe who kept goal for Accy schoolboys Balanbam00?

If you did, I would have played against you for Rossendale schoolboys.

I can not remember what I had for lunch 2 days ago or even yesterday ,so thats far far back then.

I can not remember names ,but it must have been around 1958 ??? I remember beating Clitheroe ,Burnley and in the English Schoolboys Shield we beat Horwich ,but got knocked out By Salford in some stadium ? The rest is just foggy !

The saddest thing for me about Jimmy is that he thought he wouldn't be welcome at Turf Moor. I don't know about in the boardroom but FFS, he was a hero to thousands of us who saw him play, it should have been resolved years before it was.

Can understand after fans wanted him out he would be wary and on the defensive unless he got an invite. Paul Fletcher used to visit him at Xmas every year so there seemed some channel for communication. He said they spoke about the same things every year!

I also read he was invited to watch us play Liverpool in 2005 and came but the game was called off late and that seemed to be that till the Lounge. We didn't treat him well.
