Well these account for 35% of your risk. Is exercise really worth 3%

Nine factors that contribute to the risk of dementia
Mid-life hearing loss - responsible for 9% of the risk
Failing to complete secondary education - 8%
Smoking - 5%
Failing to seek early treatment for depression - 4%
Physical inactivity - 3%
Social isolation - 2%
High blood pressure - 2%
Obesity - 1%
Type 2 diabetes - 1%

These risk factors - which are described as potentially modifiable - add up to 35%.

The other 65% of dementia risk is thought to be potentially non-modifiable.
Presume that means genetic!

Physical inactivity increases your risk of dementia by 3%, so is exercise worth the gain was the question, but the bigger issue was around what makes us forgetful. I'm deaf so have a greater risk ... but I may not remember things said ....that I didn't hear especially if my wife said them it seems!!

Yes but in my defence
If I'm reading writing driving or watching something it takes me a few seconds to hear someone speak by which time I have missed the key words on what it's about so have to struggle to work it out or guess.
Conversation topics can change in an instant without any link as something is seen or remembered.
References to it or that leave me struggling as they often refer to something the other person has seen and I haven't such as when I'm concentrating on the road and am unable to see especially if it's high up above the passenger door. E.g. that's new!
If we have several friends it's the same name I'm supposed to know which one we are talking about

Should we form a club!
