Doing the rounds........and if a chance get it done.....he will score quite a few at this level.

I hated him when he got away with an over the top challenge against Lee Wilkie at CP but we are crying out for a nippy wee barsteward like this,

Thoughts?

Would take him in a heartbeat at this level.

Agree totally. Saw he was looking around for club and thought might be ok.

Don't think we'd necessarily be needing him every week but we'd know he's there.

With the young lads around also good to have some decent experience in squad

The fact we've heard about this makes me doubt it. As I've said on a thread this morning we've done all business very very quietly

Heard today he's been training with us for a couple of days and have made him a firm contract offer. He has been offered a contract from 4/5 premier league teams but isn't prepared to be a bit part player. Tbh he'd start most weeks for us so hopefully that should see us clinch his signature, horrible little ******* that tbh I ****ing hate but would do a cracking job for us so hopefully it goes through

We heard about Stanton before he signed.

As for McDonald, i have a dislike for him that is greater than the dislike i had for Scobbie. So that just looks like it means he is the right player for us!

Scott McDonald would score goals for us, probably.

But look at today's game, loads of times King and McMullan got to the byline only to cross it to the target man that wasn't there.

I suspect the manager is sticking with his favourite formation, so I personally would like a big bruiser up there to win headers and intimidate defenders.

The wage McDonald might need to convince him to come, might mean we get one striker instead of the two the manager wants.

He's without a club so up to him if he wanted to demand too much

As a team we don't have much height so definitely so need at least one big striker, who can also help out with set pieces at the back!

If we can get him then we should. At the championship level he will score a lot just from being in the right place at he right time.

For all we know N'Koyi could be the target man we are hoping for... jury is out for me as I have not seen him in flesh and he is not fit yet.

This for me, target man rather than a 34 year old striker for me. Screaming for a target man, McDonald will command a decent wage and IMO if it meant we could get two rather than one id have two any day of the week

It's a NO from me, not what we want.
My opinion not based on not liking him, his best days are long behind him.
He will just get slower & slower.
I saw Motherwell at The Dump last season and I thought he was running thro treacle at times.

Would make Billy McKay look like a decent signing.

Funny you mention that as I'm pretty sure I saw him (B McK) in town yesterday. I'm not 100% sure but it really looked like him.

Hit double figures for a rotten Motherwell side playing in a league above ours last season. He would score 15-20 in the Championship easily imo. He's a very intelligent footballer who has a knack of being in the right place at the right time. Couple that with being one of the best finishers in the league and I don't see what there is not to want about him, especially if he's affordable.

Oh no, I hope I haven't put the mockers on our Billy!
He wasn't a bad striker... :)

McDonald will score goals in this league but IMO he is to similar a player to Keatings and I would choose Keatings over him. You could see in the game yesterday we lacked someone to aim for in the box and I don't think McDonald is the best answer to that problem. Would prefer we went for the boy from Dundalk and Storey. Those 2 would give us some better options IMO.

Why are so many people wanting this boy from Dundalk? I doubt anyone has a clue how good he is. He's only 5 ft 11 too. Not exactly the big target man.

Mcdonald would be a decent signing if true. a clever player who annoys the hell out of the opposition something we've not had in a good few years.
hes lost the pace he once had but he could still do a job for us in the championship.
is he the sort of striker we need ? probably not we need a target man like other guys have mentioned.
if we signed mcdonald and another striker who was a tall physical player then id take it but if we had 1 more signing to make it wouldnt be him tbh

McDonald was a player but anytime I saw him last season at Motherwell he was playing a lot deeper than you'd expect. He played like a number 10 rather than an out and put striker.

Just put all our eggs in one basket and sign Ciftci back!! Use some of Andy robertson cash on wages and win the league at a canter 😃

We had him on trial years ago but he was dismissed as too wee.....I would say he's went on to have a reasonable career.

Potentially this is a great signing for us. Type of player anyone in opposition will hate as he's a pest. Despite his aging he should easily be able to perform at Championship level.

Shrewd signing, might not have the legs of old but negated by being an intelligent player with knack of being in right place, will contribute in this league, can also play off the striker these days aswell

Durnan and him up front until then?

If Durnan gets over his injury.

Hope there is a bit of a Dobbie effect with McDonald and he scores a fair amount of goals. Can also see him providing for the others around him, but a wee concern about his discipline as i believe he got sent off a few times in the last few seasons.

Has he not had a few retrospectives for diving and being too diggy? He has mastered the naughty wee smirk to wind up the target of his niggles though!
