Apparently looking at a loan move for the centre back, Alex Lacovitti.

Forest Green also showing interest. Spent time at Mansfield last season.

Thoughts?

No.

Nothing against Alex, who may well become a good player at this level or maybe above, but what we need is two dominant, mature, proven centre-halves much like Mansfield have signed with Mirfin and Diamond.

It's ironic that we've re-signed players well over 30 in forward positions where we really need younger legs with a bit of pace, but in the one area where experience really is critical we've not signed anyone.

We were unlucky not to get Jake Buxton, because Burton were able to tempt him with the chance to stay at Championship level, but he's very much the type of player we need, not a relative novice like Iacovitti.

Notts need a big commanding ball winning centre half with experience, not a 19 year old kid from florest

Colin Foster was a good loan signing from Forest many years ago. That type of player!

An up and coming 19 year old might be a good signing if we can get an experienced player in as well. At the moment, we only have two specialist central defenders and really we need four to provide cover for injuries and suspensions. So if he's any good, I wouldn't be opposed to Notts signing this lad.

Mansfield sent him home early from his loan spell last year. That doesn't bode well.

On 1 January 2017, Mansfield Town confirmed that Iacovitti would be returning to Forest early from his loan spell. Mansfield manager Steve Evans, who had replaced Murray in November, cited the reason as a lack of playing time

It's close to the start of the season as long as we dont have to pay any wages and given there is nowt else doing centre half wise we have no choice but to sign him up.

As a squad player to give a bit of experience to, yes. But he is not a solution to a problem we've had for 5 years.

I just don't think we can fill the CB role with a loan player because it's too much to ask of a youngster.

I'm not suggesting he's the answer long term but we have no cover. What happens when one of the current two are suspended or injured. It will happen. We need cover he's possibly the answer for that. He's not the long term solution obviously.

Would Forest be happy with that though? He'd be on loan to play, if they wanted him sitting on the bench, he'd be with them still surely? I don't think he is the player coming in though. Do you do medicals on loan players? If they get injured, you just send them back don't you?

Exactly!

A centre half is needed but not him.

Downside is he isn't 6 feet, so probably isn't the imposing centre half we need. Upside is that he's meant to be quick, which we desperately need. Other upside is that he isn't Duffy or Hollis. If we get him AND a physically imposing centre half as well, I'll be happy.

It as been obvious to every Notts fan for 5 years or more that we need 2 decent central defenders, AH is a Notts fan so why asn't this position been dealt with? He surely can't think Duffy and Hollis are the answer. Let's hope the 2 possible signings this week will solve this problem.

Are you sure he was until he bought us? I'd like to know how many games he went to prior to last Christmas.

Is it not Nolon's choice rather than AH's?

At this stage of the season, a bit of experience is required if we're to bring in anyone in any position

Great player - Didn’t loan him from Forest though - West Ham wasn’t it?

Well I heard that George Burley is about to poach Lee Hughes, so that would make room for Lacovitti on the wage bill

Did you see the way Langstaff waved to the crowd? Clearly it was his last game against Eastleigh.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Adebayo-Rowling being switched to play CB, much like Brindley.

I always though a wave was a wave but that wave wasn't just a wave it was a goodbye wave, you could tell by the way he waved.

Yes that would be a possibility but he has had some surgery a few weeks ago so may not recover in time.
