Can't say I know anything about him but Nolan should know what he's getting after working with him at Orient, and he fills one of the most obvious gaps in the squad. With that in mind, my thoughts are positive.

He's 6' 2 tall so that should satisfy those who want height in the defence.

There was a young lad named Brisley.
Married a lass from Risley.
He played for Notts County.
She liked to eat Bounty's.......................................... ....

What if the s is silent, Gumpster, thus rendering it as Riley? That would wreck your little Limerick, wouldn't it?

The chap knows nowt about Limericks. Lines 1, 2 and 5 rhyme, as do 3 and 4. Duh!

On that basis tarquin's version of Brisle (rhyming with isle) is a bit easier:

There was a young lad called Brisle,
Who used to play for Carlisle,
He hated them lots,
So he signed up for Notts,
A much better club by a mile.

On that basis

There once was a young man named Brisle.
Who kept a pet rat and a micel.
One day at the Vicars,
They got in his wife's knickers..........................................

Just seen the interview with Brisley, gritty northern accent and permanent scowl, I like the guy already.

Loved it. I enjoyed the way he continually kicked his pet whippet and twisted his flat cap during the interview. XD >;) :P

Notts signed a gruff hoofer called Shaun,
Who gave up a career in group ****,
It was too in your face
He said, and not enough space
And you had to watch out for "Man on!"

anyone seen me coat?

Also like the absence of visible tattoos. Messi can have tattoos but these nomarks who are covered from the wrist to the armpit haven't earned the right.

I did notice Bristley still had all his teeth tho, that's points knocked off.

Talksport mentioned the transfer. Commentator chappy stated contract cancelled by mutual, very good in the air, makes the odd mistake (that's why he is Div2) but scores some class goals (don't know where he gets that from looking at his stats?). Reckons Notts will do well this season under their manager .... who is?? ....errr... NOLAN!!!....Kevin Nolan.

I remember many of the things that are said about Brisley(solid league 2, experienced, big) were being said about Duffy this time last year.

Sounds like he had a dodgy season last year, but was fairly well regarded before that. Let's hope he gets a bit of that form back.

Maybe the instructions to express himself confused him a bit. Back to basics with Notts.

That was a tad below the belt Boh, but very apt under the circumstances. ;D
