Seeing as it's half time and I can see you're online Alto, any chance of apologising for calling me a liar, or even justifying it? Or are you going to be a sh!thouse and ignore me in the hope I'll go away (hint: I wont).

Did we get a glimpse of the future tonight with Long and Taylor starting CBs ? If we were strapped for cash then I'd say it might worth the risk of going with them as back-ups, but we're not, so FFS get a decent CB brought in before it costs us. Having said that Long had a good game, but Taylor looked a bit flaky every time he was put under pressure, he looked far more assured at left back in the second half.
We were excellent for 20 minutes, Defour and Cork the midfield two, with Hendrick roaming up front in support of Vokes, but then either they shook their lethargy off, or worked us out, or both, because we spent the next 70 minutes chasing shadows. Defour got through the game no problem, but he was fairly subdued by his standards, but it's hard to show much I suppose when the opposition have 80% of the ball.
Two cracking goals, I don't expect to see much better than our first and their second again this season.

I would imagine that’s a decent result against as a decent Spanish opponent. I find it interesting Pope started in net and Defour played the whole 90 (no hammy or bad hair day). What’s more intriguing is the swap for Mee to Ward, or was this a tactical change?

What was the attendance?

Enquiring minds need to know.

Mee came on at CB, Taylor went to left back, whether this was tactical, or Ward had a knock I don't know.

I think I read approaching 6000 of which I was one of them.

Taylor played next to Long first half, then replaced Ward at left full back in second half.

Good to see Defour get so much playing time and he worked hard.

I didn't like the 451 system with Hendrick and Defour pressing their defence and thought it left us wide open for their second goal.

Still it's another friendly getting us ready for the big day in less than 2 weeks. Plenty of competition for places and a big hole to fill in central defence. Tarkowski got 10 mins at the end so should feature on Saturday v Hanover .

I thought it worked quite well, and if you want both Defour and Hendrick in the team, it's much preferable to playing Hendrick in front of the back four with Defour on the left wing, as we did on occasion last season, with lamentable results.

How did Jack Cork do Individually ? and did he work well partnered with D4 Sinkov ?

I thought it worked extremely well for the first 20/25 minutes, Cork was Cork, we know what he can do, always available, he links play up like Jones did so successfully for a couple of seasons. But even with Cork and Defour together we couldn't retain the ball like they could, and for most of the last hour our lads were often just spectators. I was happy enough with what I saw though, when we did have the ball we played some good stuff.

Seems we are vulnerable to a cut back to the edge of the box. Who should be defending that?

not wrong Colner.....and wasn't going to say anything, friendly and all - but....after Sanchez's first...would think they'd have seen the danger and closed him down - not give him space for another.

Yes I agree. Thought possibly a midfielder should have shadowed him back.

BT he's gone and not even your taxi could have got him back in time.
