I'm talking about managers who before taking these clubs over hadn't had success elsewhere but took on clubs which had previously been mediocre knowing they were going somewhere with them and convinced of their future success.

Matt Busby at Manchester United
Bill Shankly at Liverpool
Don Revie at Leeds
Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest
Brian Clough at Derby

Rafa is different and has had significant success before he reached us, so he has had the experience that the four above had to learn on the job.

Now before Rafa came here we had been in our past far more successful than every single one those five clubs above before their saviors arrived. I think if Rafa gets a fair deal from Ashley or which ever owner we finish up with if he sells, then we have a better chance to eventually build a team and a club to rejoin the elite.

ti would say those managers have gone in and buillt clubs and reams over long periods

in general rafa has gone into succesful teams and clubs

he hasnt built anything as such

he has been succesful but the clubs especially here were already succesful

i would love it if he got us going
but i just dont think he will

its a different time
players rule and agents

i remeber cloughie saying
how do you motivate a millionaire

rafa certainly didnt at real
and didnt at chelsea

and whilst he might be ok with the minor league players we have
he wont win anything
