Why did Hecky change it at half time ? Has he got the away team dressing room bugged . He dropped a ******* for me , these players are finding it tough to step up at times and we should have stuck to what we're well drilled at .

I don't think we have the players to play 2 in the middle that's why we ended up dropping deep and inviting them on , we were panicking and start lobbing it forwards.

Hecky lost the game by going 442 imo

Said it a few games ago when he took Moncur off. You don’t notice what he does massively, but when he’s taken off we notice a difference. Yesterday when he went off the hole appeared for them to get pressing is up the field.

If we'd had Mallan on the bench we could have brought some more guile into the fold.

Ive only seen Mallan once Ponte , that was on monday in the under 23s game , he looked good allround , but suprisingly looked a little slow :? So maybe not ready or needs game time ? Hecky should and will know the answer there

I'd criticise Hecky no problem if I think he's made a *** up . Always have .

It might look like hes cost us by changing what was a 1-0 at half time formation Esr, but I still prefer 2 up front so I wont knock him for going for it. Thats where I'll stick by him if hes trying to win or finish off a match like that, despite the odd team changes etc.
Sadly the players dont seem up to it when he changes the formation during the match, look at how hopeless we were when he changed it against Aston Villa for example.

It almost reminds of King Harold chasing the Normans down the hill and not knowing wtf he was doing when he got there ;D

Heres what both managers/coaches say about the game. Hecky's trying to put the positive spin on it by saying it shows we've come a long way etc, but Im guessing hes as fed up as we all are at that result. I didnt realise they have only earned their 2nd point away from home so we should have taken control of that game from going ahead.

Barnsley head coach Paul Heckingbottom:
"Performance-wise it was disappointing from my point of view and obviously the result as well. I still thought we were the better team in the first half, but we're nowhere near the levels we have been throughout the game. That was disappointing because we can control that. Obviously it's not what we're after, but upon reflection to play that poorly and be disappointed not to come away with three points shows we've come a long way."

QPR manager Ian Holloway:
" You've got to earn rewards and I thought we kept going and tried to change things to get back in it. Luckily, we managed to get this out-of-this world strike from Luke Freeman. I'm a bit frustrated though, to be honest, as we were better in our performance. I thought the lads played well, but I wanted my wingers to get inside their full-backs, where we should have scored two goals. Luckily enough, in the end, we pinned them back and we managed to get one. That being said, we've only got two points away from home all season and I can see why."

I'm disappointed we couldn't put them away Acido. In hindsight Hecky maybe should have taken Potts off for Mcgeehan and left Barnes and Moncur on the field of play.

Maybe we also didnt deserve to hang on for the win against Notts Forest Ponty, when we also invited them onto us in the 2nd half.
So these sort of results do cancel each other out. (if you believe in that sort of thing).
Going back to one of your favourite players Mowatt, I still think he let himself down a bit but I rated him ahead of somebody like Potts and I wish Hecky had stuck with him and Moncur. When is Gardner getting back to fitness by the way ?.

4-4-2, 4-5-1, 3-5-1 no formation will have made a blind bit of difference if you can't get players using their brains, last night if they thought swinging high balls into the penalty area with a 6ft 13inch centre back was going to bring results with our jockey strikers they were sadly mistaken. It was obvious to me that we needed to keep the ball on the floor and play through the middle more, the odd times we did this we offered more of a threat.
