Right this is the trophy were wanting to win and really looking forward to seeing this game against St. Mirren.

I understand it's extra cost however i think these games against different opposition are fantastic. The buddies will bring a decent crowd for it as well so hopefully it will be an entertaining encounter.

Weather good but cold, wrap up well and get to the game

2-0 Dandies!!!

St Mirren are 7/1 which seems a bit unfair on them. We seem to play well after the break though, so 2-1 us. Next two games will make or break our season.

Yep. Win those two & everything’s peachy. Lose them & there’s not really any point to the rest of the season. Huns will have McCrorie & Alves missing.

Hardly make or break.

St Mirren are on good form and did not break for the winter.
We did have a break, which may have given the players a good break, but does potentially impact our match sharpness.
I think it will be tight, but I think we will win.

SevCo, ok we don't want to get beat by them again, but even in the worst case, they only draw level with us.

There's a bit extra riding on this one.

My 4-month old grandson was born in Paisley, and with the magnanimity for which I am renowned, have said to his mother, "He should really support his local team, for it is written etc etc".

Her initial retort was, "I'll kick his arse", understandable in that she and her sister were raised on the well-established and entirely correct "Nae Dons, nae food" and "Nae Beatles, nae Santa" principles.

She will watch the game with him the morn, making careful independent notes of his reactions to the incidents and participants, and we will come to whichever conclusion the evidence supports.

He's called Sandy, but I find, on the narrow iPhone keypad, that I often have to correct his name from "Dandy". Perhaps it's a sign.

I was baby-sitting him the night that the Saints beat the PJMs 2-0 in late December. I was all ready to take him for a pint to celebrate when his ma and da came hame and vetoed the idea. Boooooooo.

Nope. It's the biggest game of the season and the next game is our chance to get our own back for being humiliated twice. A draw isn't good enough. The longer we allow them to walk all over us the less they'll have to wait before they are back in top the top two.

Yes, we don’t want to be getting beat in these 2 matches.
I will take interest in how St.Mirren try and play against us tommorow. Jack Ross could very well be a strong contender for the future management position and tommorow will give us an insight in what approach he takes to a game when his team is a rank outsider.
We know Del will go with his usual misshaped 4-2-3-1 so if Ross has done his homework he could certainly make this a very difficult match.

You have missinterpreted my post.

The St Mirren game is by far the more important of the two games

The SevCo game is important as well, but we still have opportunities beyond the midweek game in the league.

I want to win both, but if we beat St Mirren and draw with SevCo, we maintain second and progress in the cup.
If we lose to SevCo, yes, they will regain 2nd, but we can come back like we did recently.
If we win both, , it’ll be great but still not job done either.

It’s definately not make or break

If St.Mirren knock us out the cup and then we get beaten at Ibrox then our season will be ended in a competitive way. It will be extremely difficult to spin any positives if this occurs.
I hope we really go to town with both these matches to put out a statement that we are there to win against anyone.
But if truth be told I genuinely believe St.Mirren will be very difficult and the trip at Ibrox will be another bad result against them this season.

Tough tie, but one we should win. St Mirren are decent and no worse than the bottom few sides in the SPL, but they have confidence and are used to winning which is a big factor. Having said that we're 2nd in the top league and are also used to winning, we have superior players, and it's our one real shot of silverware this season whereas St Mirren's main focus is getting promotion.

I reckon it'll be fairly tight... McLean will go off after about 75 mins and that's the last we'll see him in a red shirt, to be replaced by McGinn who will come on and score the winner in the last 10 mins to mark his glorious comeback and spark an unbeaten run that lasts the remainder of the season, seeing us finish 2nd and winning the cup.

COYR!

He's took a team fae 10 points adrift of safety to 8 points clear at the top in the second division in under 2 seasons, nae much mair than one full season, without spending a bunch of cash.

That was a piece of p1ss, we should've had a couple more in the 2nd half. GMS, Christie and Shinnie were superb, GMS has proved now what he can do when he's on form - his confidence should be sky high now.

We had a couple of shaky moments at the back buit hopefully Kari and McKenna will be back for Wednesday.

Just back ...

Enjoyed that. St. Mirren kept it interesting in the first half by having a go (as opposed to dross the likes of Hearts who park the bus) and deserved their goal. Christie making it 3-1 not long after they scored settled things.

Get the beers in!

PS With Sevco's game at the Broch being off tomorrow I heard a rumour that it is re-arranged for midweek with our trip to Mordor now off? Anyone confirm?

According to bbc sport their replay is on the 31st, so Nae change for Wednesday night.

Was Devlin not the guy who got into an argument with his own supporters because they were slating him?

It doesn’t give me much enthusiasm that the Hamilton fans think he is pysh.

He was.
I’m not 100% sure it was because they think he’s pish.
One fan was shouting at him as he left the field after a 1-0 defeat to Motherwell.
The fan was sitting next to Devlins Dad & family & they started defending Devlin.
I think Devlin is popular with the Accies fans, but that said, I wouldn’t say he’s better than what we have, or indeed Ash Taylor for that matter.

biggest game of the season..............
Wouldn't think so given the crowd.
Enjoyed the game apart from some individual mistakes( Stewarts being the costly one )it was a cruise.
Should of been 5 or 6.
Why are them filthy ****s signing Morgan? Christie is head and shoulders above him.
Cammy Smith is a good loon but there is a reason he is playing for St Mirren and not Aberdeen.
Giving youth a chance is good if they are good enough.
Cracking goal from GMS, Rooney has to be one of the best spot kick takers in football.
Welcome back Niall McGinn.

Christ that was fecking cold. Reasonable cup tie, St. Mirren went for it and we scored at exactly the right times. Our defence was shocking though. Considine was actually the best of a very bad bunch. Let’s hope McKenna and Arnason are fit for Wednesday.

Christie was superb and Shinnie was decent. GMS had the full back on toast all day long, and what a hit. Their centre half must have been slow as $hit as Rooney actually outpaced him over 30 yards in the second half.

Bring on the draaaa the morn. Celtic at home please.

And well done to the St. Mirren fans. Backed their team 100%.

Solid performance from midfield forward. O'Connor and Reynolds must never partner each other in defence again. It doesn't work. I've defended Reynolds in the past but today proved he is rank. He's lost all ability he once had. Shame as I liked him.

Mr "undropable" was superb, very unlucky to be booked I thought, wasn't convinced it was a booking. Actually all our midfield was superb.

Rooney was also looking sharp. Would have added a 5th if May hadn't gotten in the way.

Actually what does May bring to us? He's struggling to make an impact with us.

Great to have McGinn back, his crossing was excellent and he should also have scored.

A one off game is hardly the same as an eight game losing streak.

If we played St mirren 8 times in a row we would beat them 8 times. What's the difference?

That’s a bit harsh,no one in the squad is slower than Considine is.

Well apart from Greg Stewart.

As for what May brings to the team he makes a lot of clever runs which creates openings for others,he only has 4 goals so far but he has been taking corners which has resulted in 5 assists.Maybe now McGinns back he can take them and leave May in the box to score like he did against Dundee on his debut.

fair enough, my point was that a lot o folks (including here) are harping on aboot the Scottish Cup being the only thing left to play for, yet the crowd was approx. 5000 doon on Partick, Motherwell, Hibs etc never mind the ****e or Euro games.
Yes KO 12:15, yes TV but neither of these in my opinion can be used an excuse.

First game in a month, nice day (we live in Scotland) playing a non SPL team who I always thought would come and try to play.
so how important is the Scottish Cup to the supporters?

Canna mind what thread as it was a while back but a few were in agreement that winning a cup and being 5th downward was a better season than 2nd and no cup.others disagreed and i for one was lambasted for suggesting it.

I would take a cup every season and bottom six finishes over 2nd and f@ck all every year. Ill stick by it

Indeed, plus 2nd guarantees Europe and rubs the noses in to the “unwashed”

Order of preference (assuming league is outwith reach)

1. Cup win, achieve achieve 2nd
2. Cup win, achieve European placing
3. Cup win, league place irrelevant
4. Achieve 2nd
5. Achieve European placing.

Who cares if you don’t qualify for Europe by winning a cup. Winning trophies first should be the priority...getting into Europe is easier done when your team is winning things anyway.

He was still good with Taylor in the 2014/15 season when we only conceded 33 goals which is our best defensive record in recent years.

He has seemed to go to sh*t since his shoulder injury at the beginning of the 2015/16 season.I think he is still ok as a backup I wouldn’t want him as a first pick.

Sure it took 20 mins or so to settle down but did St Mirren really trouble us after that? A new partnership I suppose.
Reynolds also did well to get back and block Cammy’s (I think) Square ball after Shinnie and Considine were caught out from the back heel down the St Mirren right.

Thing is, who plays on Wednesday as our two CH’s?

Disagree it was harsh. I genuinely thought that both centre half's were absolutely brutal. Saw no communication between them, not one of them wanted to take control and I also noticed that Reynolds at times was caught between men and not really marking anyone in particular.

I may be wrong but was it Reynolds who was ball watching at the St Mirren goal when the striker reacted ten times quicker to Lewis's save??

Wasn't impressed at all.

That said we won at a canter and could have added even more.
