Said this time & time again after the last away game I went to. Only way I'll ever go to an away game again is if I win the lotto. Then I'd do it in luxury. I go to watch football not a minority of our away support acting like idiots. I wouldn't even go to Wembley. Watch that on sky. But every home game & I mean every home game cups, friendly's even checkatrade I'm there. Call me not a supporter, not bothered. Club has had quite abit of money out of me since 1965.

Anyone who's not been before for a league game, if you're going by train then most likely you will be horded off the train a few stops before scunny, and bussed to a grotty little pub in the middle of nowhere under the watchful eye of Lincolnshire 's finest, whether you like it or not.
Once there, leave the budgie in its cage, leave the pumpkin on the bar, don't set the curtains on fire and don't turn the tables over. And with a bit of luck, the police will bus you to the match and not back to the station.

Iron bar usually admit away fans, 1:30 usually opens

If you don’t get a police escort (see post above) the old farmhouse on Doncaster rd (sky sports) admits away fans but no club colours on show

The Berkeley is popular with away fans, past ground on left just before roundabout

Large car park at ground which charge £3

Usual concourse food which is cheaper than ours and they do pukka pies

British steel (players wearing limited shirts for this game) family day who will be doing a collection for Lindsey Lodge Hospice

Scunny are asking fans to arrive early due to bigger numbers than usual

That’s asking for trouble if all 2100 seats sold. Could end up with an odd seat then 2 arrive and you are in their seats. It the thing I hate for one. We sat in our allocated seats at Oldham where their was a good following. Shouldn’t be a Rotherham fan if you can’t read the number on the ticket!

Spot on. It only takes one person to sit in the wrong seat and that can create a domino effect. Also could cause trouble especially due to alcohol.

Smith & Ball I'm not a fan, not both in the side. Forde will be as usual no threat from open play. Keep Scunny down so they haven't killed the game off then bring Taylor & Lavery on + Palmer if he hasn't started. Try to salvage a point or better. No wind up. How I see it.

In 1988-89 Billy McEwan's Millers won the 4th division championship.
S****horpe away was at the end of the season. If I remember correctly we clinched promotion that day (we might have clinched the title - we clinched summat anyway)
My mate, a diehard Miller, was landlord of the Queensway pub, a couple of miles from the stadium. On matchday he decided that it would be away fans only in his pub. He had not been advised to do it by the police and he had not publicised it. He stood at the door turning away the home fans and welcoming Millers fans with open arms. Not popular with the Scunny regulars but highly popular with our lot.
We rolled up in a panel van, with about 12 of us in the back. In the pub we invited another half dozen (including Shaun Goodwin's brother) to ride with us to the ground. The police treated us as a coach and we parked with the coaches near the away turnstiles.
At the end of the game the Rotherham fans were chanting McEwan's name for ages after the players had left the pitch. Most had given up on him making an appearance and were streaming out of the exits when he came back out. A roar went up and the exiters u-turned and rushed back in. Very hairy moments. A disaster in the making but somehow avoided.
We headed back to the boozer, van rocking precariously from side to side, and celebrated with a shandy or two.

Yes - many good sides have/will leave GP empty handed this season so gaining one point or more would be a fantastic result

Really surprised to see that Warne has gone with team, I thought he'd have gone with gwru's genius suggestion of a formation change, playing with one winger, playing with an unfit striker up front on his own and dropping the two goalscorers and the man of the match from the last game. What are you playing at Warney!

Got that right, Lavery coming on. Newell substituted, so I'm not totally wrong. Match report: sounded like they had some chances. At the moment it's going for us. Makes a change but can soon change. Still feel if we had to win a game wouldn't be the side we started with today. Just abit of tinkering. Keeper/defence pick themselves, also Vaulks & Towell.

Clutching at straws there gwru. I think everyone on here would've predicted Lavery coming on at some point and the chance of Newell coming off was also pretty high regardless of how he played. Think it's time to retire this 'character' of yours.

What about the "Towell for Palmer won't work" comment? Apparently a lot of people had Towell as man of the match.
And obviously Newell was completely ineffective because he only scored one goal.

Never said Towell for Palmer won't work. Read what I said. More concerned with the inconsistent Newell. Forde any threat from open play & Smith & Ball up front together. Can't dispute this league is that bad our best striker by far wouldn't sign for us but we're still thriving. See when we have to win a game which might be play-offs if this side out today is good enough. Does it really matter. Play-offs is a good season but we'll want to complete the job if we get there. No wind-up. I want to see us in the play offs then we'll see if Warney is a manager. Doesn't need much that side just minor adjustments. Rodak even though I don't rate him picks himself cause there's nobody else. Defence picks itself but there are options. Vaulks & Towell automatic choices with Palmer as back up. It's out wide & up front that's going to give us that final push. I want to see what Lavery can do. I'm enjoying this season. I don't go to away games now but I do know the atmosphere can be special.
