We are getting a lesson here on how to play proper football.....total domination by Swansea, pass and move, pass and move.....simple....kick and rush cannot work against a team that will not let you have the ball, plus we are sitting off them and letting them play Barca~style.....awesome display by the Welsh side.....another cracking strike by Husin is making it look respectable

Not managed a tackle between them. Dreadful.

Apart from the one last ditch tackle, Virtue looks rubbish as well.

I think it is harsh to assess a players performance against superior opposition. As a team we simply made it too easy in that half.
I wouldn’t bother bringing Shola on. Leave him for Saturday. I would give Noble and Forte a run out in the 2nd half.

.

He's not the only one, but on this showing he doesn't look like a Liverpool player, nothing to show he can play on the ball. It's unfair to single anyone out though - all have struggled to get into the game , possession is 29%

Pies4u
06-02-2018, 09:09 PM
Driller/Roberto/Navy: Well, that is true, but no surprise. Dicko gets done for pace in Div 2 & Hawkridge provides little or no cover for his full back - but - no matter how good Husin's goals are he is a bit weak off the ball. He has no real pace, limited defensive awareness/instinct and him & Virtue have been completely anonymous, over run and flat footed all game. Husin was the same on Sat but everyone seemed to get completely carried away by his goal. He needs to be able to display a bit more grit and make life difficult for opponents for my money.

Our lack of pace and awareness has been cruelly exposed by a below average P league team. Disappointing so far.

Concentrate on the League.

BigFatPie

It's a disappointing display, even allowing for the relative quality of the opposition. The least we should be doing is putting in some crunching tackles and making the Swansea players decide it's not worth getting injured for the sake of an extra goal or pass. I don't think Pitbull Paual Harding would have accepted this fate so readily.

It's been mentioned in the TV commentary, but the only way to react to this is the way Crystal Palace reacted to being slaughtered by Liverpool all those years ago. Yes, but teams often react one of 2 ways after a crushing defeat like that. We could go on a season ending losing run, or we go the opposite way and use it as motivation for what happens when standards drop. I fancy us to go on a run of the positive direction and smash Carlisle after Barnet.

Nolan has had his fair share of the credit this season so he’s got to take the stick for that.

His team selection was piss poor, totally wrong. And his tictacs seemed to be to stand off them, absorb pressure and somehow hit them on the break. When that totally didn’t work in the first game.

Having said that, we have maybe 5 players to bring in to strengthen the team for Barnet (Tootle and Jones please) so there’s absolutely no reason why it should disrupt our season.

That result bleddy hurt, nowt to do with "bedwetters", whatever they are. It will rankle for a long time.

Barnet is the next game, we need to get back to winning ways and keep the promotion push going.

Exactly your last paragraph 👍

You always remember hammerings, either winning or losing. Newport 8-1 1961 for example

Salford was equally embarrassing and only a couple of years ago, but nobody was thinking about that when we smashed Crewe in front of a massive crowd.

For what it's worth tonight was awful. Weirdly, bizarrely, inexplicably awful. I put off something important to watch it, am already getting the piss ripped out of me on Facebook, and to make matters worse I had a couple of bets on Swansea with huge handicaps in the first game when I thought this would happen and nothing tonight.

But what can we do? Call for Nolan out when he's over performing? Boo the players? Protest against the chairman when he's doing a great job? Whistle's gone, start thinking about Barnet.

I remember hammering Crewe from our division just a few days a go. So which one do we remember? I am confused because we are supposed to remember them all.

We need a snarling, angry reaction at Barnet on Saturday and fierce determination for the rest of the season.

This, a million times this. Nolan needs to use the disappointment, humiliation and (hopefully) anger the players are feeling right now to drive our promotion home.

4-1 is not a hammering( although it should have been at least 6).

Feel sorry for the fans that made the long journey and had to witness that no show by the team.

Exactly. No distractions from a long cup run now, Barnet could be complacent on sunday, and we've just had our worst result of the decade (probably)... struggling now help me out...

Have they moved Barnet to Sunday? Better change my travel plans.

I would say it was a hammering. I would also add they Crewe are in the **** and the hammering we dished out on them could contribute to there relegation. A fate thankfully we don’t need to worry about.
You mentioned the 8-1 Newport win from 1961. Hope you can remember Notts’ form prior to that game? We lost 4 in a row.
This is one game. In isolation it’s an absolute shocker. In the context of our season, it should not detract from our objective, and hopefully the players react better than some on here.

It's not about being beaten. It's about losing with honour and Notts didn't.

I don’t disagree, we were awful. But is it the worse performance ever?

If you think that, you haven’t followed Notts very much. You don’t even have to go back far to find some far worse.

I switched off at 1-0, because I had never been more certain that we were going to get thrashed - even then, though, I thought we might keep it down to five! Rabbits in headlights.

Let’s hope we get the right response against Barnet, because they have embarrassed themselves tonight. Let’s be honest, it is typical Notts to go from the high of Saturday to tonight’s fiasco.

It will be a test of character to see how they respond, hopefully with fight and desire to win as they have shown in matches this season.

Dicko, Hawkridge, Hunt and Virtue all look horribly exposed.

Feel sorry for Collin who hasn't had a chance with any of the goals.

Unfortunately, the scoreline reflects the gulf in class.

Fitz is a far better keeper.....Collin flaps at crosses and is not a shot~stopper

Couldn't agree more,I would have liked us to at least put a tackle in though.

Agreed .....totally shambolic, no idea what we were doing......they had 75 % possession but when we did get the ball, we booted it back to them....weird....they must have thought they were in a training match

I don't think Collins handling and shot stopping is that bad, he just needs to learn to push the ball further away when parrying, how many times does he parry and the ball goes straight to a striker?

Agreed, Fitzsimons is a better keeper.

No way. this is just a reactive response from tonight. They are both equally as good in my opinion but have different qualities.

Collin has been rushed back and looked out of sorts.

Our brilliant unbeaten run was with Collin between the sticks.

I'm happy with either. You're just catastrophising.

Not at all reactive after last night. Even before Collin got injured, I had this opinion.

I still believe that Fitzsimons is a marginally better keeper but in no way do I think either keeper is bad. I'm just pointing out my opinion of a weakness in Collins game.

Well I was delighted when it was on NZ tv on ESPN but the delight didn't last long as I had to go out and do a bit of gardening for my daughter cos it was to painful to watch.
it was like a training game with no tackles from us.
