Jon Stead captaining the side on his 550th league appearance and Sam Osborne is included among the substitutes after scoring twice for the Under 23s on Wednesday.

Interesting to see Vaughan nowhere near the squad?

Turley at CB with Toots in for Brisley.

There’s certainly goals in this squad so fingers crossed.

Wonder if he is injured or just not being considered as a viable midfielder. A little odd considering his pedigree.

Interesting team indeed... that Turley is some beast of a man so lets hope he and Ward can form a decent partnership in the middle... Alles looks to be firing on all cylinders so I see him scoring today... I have us down to loose 2-1 but kind of changing my mind looking at the team.

I think HK is a man who knows what he wants, he’s in it for the long haul and unfortunately Vaughan is one from the past, not one for the future. Harsh on Vaughan but if he doesn’t fit into HKs plans I’d rather see him drop him than feel obliged to play him.

Not particularly worried about that as we will get chances as the game opens up.

Keeping them out our end is more important

Certainly is. Kewell is making progress with the team but we need it to turn into points.

Let's hope the lack of fitness doesn't hinder us 2nd half

Defence looking quite solid at the moment.

Yucky first half from two teams clearly out of form......BUT, we haven't conceded yet......hooray.

One decent effort from Stead on 43 minutes, whose looping header landing on the roof of the onion-bag........at the other end, a cracking save from Fitz when their attacker ran free of our, otherwise solid, defense, and tried to blast it to Fitz's left.

If 0-0s are your bag, this game is for you....if you like action then crack open a tin of gloss paint and give the kitchen cupboards a quick makeover!

On another day a 0-0 draw would be a disappointing result but we are scrapping for our lives at the moment so every point is a bonus... only 2 points from safety now and with 3 very winnable games to come, has our season turned around i wonder.

That has to be one of the worst games of football I’ve seen in a long time and there’s been a lot of sh**e,
After last weeks game there were lots of positives and I was expecting more of the same, it does make you wonder
what the hell they do during the week

I alluded to watching a tin of gloss drying nicely on the kitchen cupboards at half-time........it livened up a bit in the 2nd, though I suspect the object of today's game was "safety first".....not a game for the thrill-seekers though, I agree

It wasn't.

Certainly not the best game, but with the current position of the two clubs it was somewhat expected.

Northampton manager said it was worst refereeing display of the season - called it inept. He also said there are positives from the game - particularly the clean sheet.

If we are relegation fodder (and I don't think we are!), certainly Northampton are - terrible home performance imo.

We kept a clean sheet, that'll do for me at present. We'll get there.

The clean sheet is what win titles and the build from the back is the key fundamental to any successful side in football.

For us this season a clean sheet has been a galaxy away so it’s a massive achievement, and cannot be underestimated from a side that have had more holes in its hull than the titanic.

I’m not bothered about the performance, or whether it was ugly but it’s the best result for me since the opening day.

The bonus is that we have moved off the bottom of the table as well so it’s baby steps.

I hope the back four can stay the same for the next game and we can build on this and get our first win of the season at home because we do have goals in this side.

Onwards and upwards as someone once said.

Excellent display from Fitz and great to get a clean sheet but we were totally lacking in creativity and Stead puts some of the other players to shame with his efforts...Cobblers were poor and thankfully their finishing was wayward so even though we got an away point I was less than impressed

Would definitely have taken a 0-0 before kick-off and it's a relief to be off the bottom, but it hasn't made much of a difference in terms of climbing away from the drop zone any time soon. We desperately need a win from the next two home games. It's now 15 competitive matches without a win, 13 in the league and play-offs, the all-time record of 20 league winless games (set in the catastrophic 1996/97 campaign) is now looming on the horizon.

Eastcoastultra1977

Nothing impressed me today,Notts were crap AGAIN!!!!

The only reason we kept a clean sheet was that Northampton were as crap as us.

If we had been playing a decent side we would have been stuffed.

This is going to be long ****e season.Where is the next win coming from???? Pissed off with it.

Unless you believe Notts fitness issues have been solved in the last 7 days, then yes it is a relevant point for discussion.

Reason I stay off this board is idiots jumping on everything you write like it insults them
