Don't know what the Financial Fair Play b ollocks is at the moment but if I was "the richest man in Egypt" I would nip up to Geordieland and say "hey Rafa remember that idiot Lerner who wouldn't give you money for players? Well here's a billion pounds, say tara to Mr Ashley on your way out".

Bruce has and is failing, Bongo its only a matter of time before he is gone seriously we need to breed fresh life into those players and get them believing in themselves, Agent Bruce is doing a great job of destroying some really good players and making them just Average.

Mon is not coming back.....

samhubball

Our midfield is possibly the best midfield we have had since the MON era. McGinn is special, Grealish could be the new David Platt, I love Hourihane and Bjarnson. In the championship we have a wonderful team (except for the GK and the defence AS SET UP BY BRUCE) however, if Hutton played at right back, Taylor at LB and Chester and Axel played as centre half's maybe it wouldn't be as bad.

Jedi is not a CB and I can't believe we let Tommy go

Spot on Sam, I really don’t rate this keeper at all and have absolutely no confidence in him..

What manager should replace Bruce if he goes is tricky tbh as we all pretty much moan about his style of football so the realistic ones on that list like moyes n fat Sam would be a no go eh ?

Something has gottta change though as it’s bleak really but then saying that a few wins on trot n we’re right back in the mix..

Terry Leahy ex tesco ceo may be available without any compo(St) as I think he's on gardening leave.
Or maybe go posh and splash out on ex waitrose ceo Andy street from his mayor's job. At the very least they would know how to sell those cabbages in the club shop they may even chuck in a buy one throw another free offer.
They would squeeze the best price from the farmers and ensure you never have a besticide.

Funny how you relate to Tesco dunderhead!!
The obssession continues boggy boy. Do your bragging at the end of the season if you can.
Your showing yourself up to be a right c.ock.

Every club has its clowns BB and hell knows it's a circus in B6 at the minute, you coming on here has nothing to do with your club's rosy position then eh!

We'll come good with the right man, our owners have deep pockets and the re-build starts now.

Our position isn't as rosy as you may think wcv, we concede goals like santa giving out gifts at a grotto and our squad is like a dad's army.

Just found the cabbage incident funny and the fatalistic view of your fans when just 2 points from the play offs and having lost just one game.

I think you have made a massive mistake if you don't have fat sham lined up.

Everyone else mentioned are equal to or lesser managers to Bruce.

I like the idea of this...

*Paulo Fonseca is on Aston Villa's radar - and he has links with Jorge Mendes.

The Portuguese super-agent will play a part in assisting Villa’s search and is sure to put forward a number of potential candidates.

Fonseca is currently at Shakhtar Donetsk and was linked with a move to Everton in the summer before Marco Silva took over.

BirminghamLive understands that the 45-year-old is under consideration as Villa outline their ambitions for a high-profile appointment as their next boss.*

*Birmingham Mail online

If we can then follow the wolves blueprint and get players loaned in who are above championship class (like Jota and Neves were) then we would be in the new era we really want to be in and not chasing dinosaurs like Moyes, fat Sam and McCarthy

I read somewhere a quote saying the best replacement for Steve Bruce is Steve Bruce. How ironic is that! Or has football moved on in the past five years.
I would love it if he got the United job.

Oddly enough the best man for the job now is MON if you don't want to gamble. Not everyone's cup of tea but he would get us promoted.

if it's effing Moyes we would have been better off keeping Bruce. moyes comes in and I, for one, will stop watching or caring!

westcountryvillain

Like him or loathe him big Sam has a very decent managerial record, personally I can't stand his football but as a short term option to win promotion he's a good bet and appears to be able to set his team up tactically with the opposition's threats in mind.

Moyes - dull, & if McCarthy gets the job then I'm off to support the Saddlers!

Its amazing, the more you read the more we have a top target or new favourite or an odds on, its switching by the minute, the tabloids are covering every name just so as they can dig out the correct one just to say, we told you so. Throw enough darts at the board and sooner or later you will hit the bulls eye.

I know what you mean Dave. Even York has thrown his hat in the ring for the 8 time since MON left. If he had any interest in managing he would be doing it right now and not just wait for the villa job year after year. If he did well at say Burton I wouldn't rule out this but I'm sure it's just paper talk.

The only ones I'm ok with so far is Henry MON SAF and Rogers.

It's going to be Thierry Henry and Jesus Garcia Pitarch is going to be the sporting director.

Pitarch has previously worked in the same role at Valencia and agent Jorge Mendes, who advises Sawiris, is said to be involved in the move.

Hopefully it'll be completed before the international break but Henry may have to still be martinez's number 2 at the Belgium games before he can get down to business.

I'd be pleased. 41 years old, has panache and style. Knows the premier league and has worked alongside (still) a couple of my favourite managers in Martinez and Arsene. And the link with Mendes thru the director is really exciting

Not sure who this Mendez bloke is? Why is it exiting? Yeah I like the idea of Henry. Hopefully he can Hoover up the mess.
Would be exciting having him around the place the blokes a legend.

TrianonDave

Who ever comes is going to struggle as Bruce has left the squab bare at the back, we were all questioning why he let Elphick go and thats scraping the Barrell. You would have thought especially as he was a defender he would have made that area a priority, we all knew it. Even Ssmba till January would have been something. Yes he tried to bring in a left back and some geezer from scotland but letting our defence leave was a massive gamble and it did not pan out.
The keeper is another area, is it not about time we blooded Moirra?
We are in a mess and looking at it now its no surprise we can not even get a point off Millwall after being 1.0 up, 3 pts off preston when 2.0 up.
I really worry about this scenario because who ever comes in cannot make a leather purse out of a pigs ear!
Whats the situation with Collins or Huth? Who is our u23 left. These guys won their last game 8-0.

My choice in the current situation is Dean Smith, with the internationals on i cannot see Henry dropping that to sign up to us.
And as so many before, a manager doing well for another club does not mean he will fit in with Villa.

Unbelievably it is being reported that Henry is the number 1 and John Terry will be his assistant (with the possibility of playing)

That would be mental

Yes it comes with risks attached but gerrard n Lampard seem to be doing ok

Go for it I say

Reports suggest Henry's knowledge of the game is second to none, who's to say he's attack minded though just by virtue of his playing days? I hope that he is and we get JT to shore up the defence through to January - only the top 2 teams in this league can be considered to be "in-form". Recall Suliman and Elphick if the loan terms allow it, Jedi in front of the back 4 with a midfield 3 of McGinn, Jack & Hourihane.

Bolasie and Tammy up front, use the full backs to provide the width.

11.28 pm and still no news, Dave! We can check again at 11.29. :)

I was totally against Henry joining us as manager in the summer, but I guess we are in a different place now. Definitely a gamble, but the combination of their offensive and defensive nous, coupled with Terry's experience of Villa and playing in the Championship last season could be amazing, if they gel. I did read that Henry is very popular with Hazard and co, so maybe he can add that va va voom (sorry :D) to Villa.

I guess we have this window open to us now. , so we might as well climb through it and see what adventure it leads us on.

I'm a bit surprised at Terry's announcement that he is retiring from playing, given our need for a defensive player, at least until Christmas?

I feel like I'm selling my soul to the devil 're Terry, but despite my personal feelings about him, I can't deny he was really good for Villa last season. I guess we're recruiting a new coach for Villa though, not a new friend for me. :)

samhubball

It sort of reminds me when we thought we were gettig Soljaekrekrer (back then I even bothered to learn how to spell his name).

Tbh if Henry does get the job and fails then it's no worse than Bruce having the job and failing. It certainly should be more entertaining than Moyes or fat Sam.

The only real negative is if he does particularly well then it'll be difficult to keep him as he is an arsenal legend and everyone's favourite pundit

bongosdad
09-10-2018, 10:24 AM
