After our conversation regarding running the other day I tempted myself to test my mile time last night even though I have a niggle in my left calf that I had to “manage” as I went for it!

I delighted to complete it in 6.41 which I believe only 1% of people over 50 are stupid enough to be able to do.

I didn’t kill myself overtrying either and I reckon that with no injury to protect and a loss of 7 lbs I could probably do a 5.45 mile, certainly a sub 6 minute is probably possible even now.....not bad for a bloke turning 57 on Monday.

I read that some elite blokes are doing sub 5 minute miles at over 60......I shan’t bother even thinking of that!!

Hope you take up my suggestion to take in a local 10k race.

Let me know how your mile time trial goes?

Ref this age/gender grading a 65+ female had completed the 5k Park Run in sub 24 mins. I will not be seeing this time any time soon or ever.

I replied on the previous thread 8mins 32secs for a mile and I was bushed at the end of it.
