Last season: Started off playing awful football but scraping wins in our first 3 games before being found out by St Mirren. Then a few up and down results, culminating in Ray being sacked after 10 games. New manager comes in and we see an improvement in results for a few weeks before the form takes a dip, we go back to playing awful football and rumours begin about the manager "losing the dressing room" and players just not wanting to play for him.

This season: Indifferent start, still playing dreadful stuff but picking up a few wins until the 5-1 hammering by Ross County sees Csaba booted out the door after 7 games, similar to last season. **New manager comes in and we see an improvement in results for a few weeks before the form takes a dip, we go back to playing awful football** (copied and pasted from above) but NO rumours of "losing the dressing room" or players just not wanting to play for him.

What am I getting at? Is there unrest in the dressing room again, just like last season? From what I'm reading on here, it sounds very much as though we have a number of players not giving everything to win games, not showing the commitment that we need to win this league and who are perfectly happy to just drift along, picking up their wage and then probably disappear at the end of the season. Sounds exactly like last season to me. Why is this? Where have we gone wrong again? Do these players sense that if they get us promoted, they will most likely be shipped out and replaced by superior players, better suited to the bigger league? Are we not paying good enough win bonuses?

22nd of December was the last time we scored more than one goal in a league game (2-1 v Falkirk)

There aren't many players or of contact at the end of the season. I think this is why we were signing players for more than one season to specifically avoid the problem your are describing. A more likely reason for performances that aren't great is the squad lacks quality which is something Robbie is trying to address this month.

Also RN recently stated he’d known that the current squad weren’t up to it before he joined, and that he’d need to overhaul.

If you’re one of our existing players hearing the news that you ain’t good enough, then you either buckle down and show you are to whoever is watching, or you just crumble. Unfortunately most of our mob seem to be doing the latter.

The players we had last season and have this season don't have the strength of character required to perform at the level required.

I've alluded to these thoughts on a different thread.
If there was a C'ship table for strength of squads we'd be no better than mid-table.
C'ship table for determination we'd be in the relegation/play-off spots.

How come we're 3rd then?

On another thread I said we're Billy Bigbaws in this league cos of our status, that's what's got us 3rd.
But many more performances like Friday will mean our status (& our league position) is on the slide.
