I noticed in today's press that Partick Thistle have reaped rewards of having a sound youth policy by selling an 18 year old midfielder Aidan Fitzpatrick to Norwich for £350,000. This will go a long way to paying off their losses for the last few seasons and just goes to show what having invested in a strong youth program can bring. Yes these are far from regular events but there is always a chance of unearthing a similar starlet, while supporting the senior squad especially if it is limited in size like we have at Palmerston, if you invest in youth development.

The Weir family have been major contributors to the Thistle youth teams since winning the lottery a few years ago.

the trick is teams like hamilton ,partick ,hibs ,ross co ,motherwell, hearts, who all have top youth systems in this country place there youngsters on minimum 3 year contracts if they are of a decent standard ,this way if a big team come in thay have to part with decent cash to sign them ,currently queens only keep them on 1 year youth contracts ,any team can just come in and take them ,your right spike a club the size of queens needs to be taking advantage of the youth system and thats where queens should go all out to build up in my opinion .
