England 4 v 2 West Germany and the FIFA World Cups is ours.

Is it really that long ago since we last hosted the World Cup in our own country?

When are we likely to ever host it again?

I reckon that EUFA giving next years Euros final and semi finals are to keep England quiet for a bit!

Why would they want to give it to England anyhow? It'd be fighting on mass in most towns.

and what a sad reflection that is or would be.....still think 53 years is hell of a long time not to award us the greatest final on earth if they want to give us the semis and final of the Euro championships. Maybe they will see how successful this is and look at the trouble that may ensue and we dealt with it.

And since that time Germany have hosted it twice (1972 & 2006).

Mexico hosted it twice in relatively quick succession (1970 & 1986) and will share it with the USA/Canada in 2026, which means even the USA will have hosted it twice it since we hosted it last and it's hardly a football (soccer) hot bed!!!

Politics (Money) haven't helped us rather than the threat of football violence - there have been other World Cup competitions held in locations were fan safety wasn't properly prioritised eg South Africa & Brazil (crime rate) and Qatar (climate)

This is what they look at and it's not seen as an obstruction but an opportunity.

Germany having it twice maybe down to the company that wins all of the rights to the finals and then sells then to individual TV companies.

Mexico is bewildering but the world cup goes from continent to continent and as the other countries are a well known political stable place (not).
