Why are transfer undisclosed?

I always thought it was because the selling club might upset their fans if they sold for too low a price.

Why are transfer undisclosed?

Could be the player doesn’t want it to be known he’s gone on cheap or it could be because Tony Stewart is embarrassed to be seen spending money

Several reasons Sheald:

1. The buying club dont wish to advertise to the footballing world the kind of fees they are prepared to pay.

2. The selling club dont want other clubs to know how much money they've received as this is likely to inflate their own purchases going forward.

3. Football transfer fees are seldom a one price fits all scenario. There are loads of clauses and triggers which increase/decrease the actual value, not to mention staggered payment terms. So, stating a figure is at best guesswork. When the press print an amount it is usually subject to all manner of circumstances being met.

Finally, the amount can only be undisclosed for a maximum of 12 months as transfer fees in/out obviously have to be disclosed in the clubs accounts.

Might be a load of crap but Brum allegedly wanted 400k! Millers told them to do one but have still paid £200k
As I say it’s probably crap as it seems a lot for us to pay having said that we’ve given him a 3 year contract so there might be something in it

We don’t want other clubs to know how much we spend on a player

Plus Tony won't want to let his grandkids know how much he's subsidising our hobby.
Less money for their education and less food in their fridge
