Teams to follow.

Right...Everton are missing Rodriguez, Richarlison, Digne and Coleman from their first team so, even with Calvert-Lewin in the form of his life, their attacking options have been severely lessened.

Good opportunity to take the game to them, no?

Let’s ask Uncle Steve, shall we?

;) We're progressing inch by inch he tells us...or, at least, that's what he's aiming for. We're hoping for inch by inch.

XD

I couldn't feel more inspired!

He is as much an aspiration as David Moyes was at the Mackems, Telling the fans they are going down after 2 games or something.

Keep the same line up as the wolves game but thankfully lascelles is injured so hopefully Clark will come in. lets go at Everton dont sit back

Newcastle XI: Darlow, Schar, Lascelles, Fernandez, Lewis, Hendrick, S Longstaff, Murphy, Almiron, Saint-Maximin

Subs: Gillespie, Clark, Carroll, Joelinton, Hayden, Manquillo, Fraser

I'll add Wilson, given that the BBC website couldn't be arsed.

So- defensive again?

Oh, and t-rex arms has been dropped.

:D shame, cos he'd gift us at least a goal

Possession 30%/70% in their favour already.

Inch by inch, Brucey boy, inch by inch.

Lewis just doesn`t seem to know when to release the ball forward, turning every promising advance into a retreat

Think we’ll lose today, Everton are on the up - we’re random and mostly terrible like always.

Thank god he’s got a great coach who can tell him that.

Mina def trying to shag wilson and then rolls about the ground clutching his head.... 2 poss pens

It’s depressing that the only chance we have of scoring a goal with the way we’re set up is when Everton screw up.

They’re not even playing that well, we’re just useless with the ball.

Do we have a midfield ?

So why has Almiron not been starting all this time?

HUGE DIFFERENCE for us going forward.

Well done by Wilson to get that pen.

These games are the reason Bruce gets away with it.

We have been better since the goal at least and Longstaff still cant take a decent corner

Awful at free kicks as well

HughieG

All set pieces coming from us are a joke. We are wasting every opportunity to actually have a shot at goal.

Fraser did well there, great through ball too. 2-0 against Everton (albeit weakened) is a very good result and overall the performance has been better than lately

The difference between a finisher like Wilson and Joelinton is at least 3 leagues.

Think we`ve played a lot better than most games this season, 10-12 attempts by both sides, good defensive performance and some good counter attacking and breaks

i'm not going to get carried away with that performance. We got a soft penalty, and a tap in from an actual attack.
We had ASM through on goal which the keeper saved, other than that we did shlte all else. 60 minutes in, we had 11 men behind the ball in our own half!
Everton were without their wingbacks on either flank who would have created all day, their star player in midfield and Richarlison.

A full strength Everton would have had is beaten in the first half.
Everton had 4 of their best players missing and they were away from home, yet they still had more possession, more shots, more passes more tackles.

If any of our fans want to think todays performance was positive, then they are ****ing delusional

Can't disagree with any of that, I feared the worst in that last few minutes.

Exactly.

Add to that the fact that Everton had an overall terrible game, but still we let them have the ball as we are short of a plan in terms of what to do with any type of possession that isn't a counter attack.
