Tough and important fixture this one! Optimistic as always though...

Hartlepool 2 - 3 Notts

Earlier in the season I would have said nailed on 0-0. Now I can’t see us keeping so many clean sheets but will score more. 1-1, Knight opening his account to bring us level late on.

Not looking forward to this one. We bossed them at ML even though we lost 1-0. They're on a good run. However, I feel like it must end at some point and it's our turn to go on a run. Therefore 1-1...(I know that's weird) but you have to draw a couple on a good run, and Hartlepool away is a good one to draw.

Wootton back into the starting lineup instead of the 'Patchy Sam'.

As mentioned previously goals are now being conceded and scored more frequently so BTTS bet is a must.

I predict an unlucky defeat 2-1 Pools (Wootton).

I will bet a 2-1 win for Notts at 12/1 with BV

Seeing as very few have gone for a draw. That's gonna be my choice and a result that would be by no means a disaster.

This is a massive game for us, a win would be a huge boost and give us the confidence to push on....it’s got a bit of a Barrow away feel about it.

Scrappy 1-0 for Notts. Wootton to score, unless Sam is picked in his place. In which case Ellis is the man.

We will concede for sure if we play 3 Cb’s. But we will score also in that formation so its how many we concede to how many we might get. We might get done here maybe 3-2

13 unbeaten but 7 draws in that run and not one win by more than 1 goal and not scored more than 2 goals in any of those games either, they are the most consistent team in the league and their style allows them to grind out results.

In short they haven’t been pulling up any trees, just doing enough to get a 3rd to 5th place PPG average. They haven’t faced our new 5 pronged attack, Roberts and Knight buzzing around their defence like Supermarine Spitfires paving the way for the dambuster Wootton while Enzio and Barnett are the gunships that cover the flanks.

They’re in for a big shock so … Pools 1-1 Notts (Rawlo)

Pools is their nickname, they call themselves it all the time.

Until 1968, they were called Hartlepools United. I think this might have been because there were two distinct municipalities called Hartlepool and West Hartlepool. In 1968 they changed the name to just Hartlepool, and then in 1977 changed again to Hartlepool United.

An important game tomorrow, one of the hardest of the season. I’d be happy with a point, but my prediction is 2-1 to them.

Hate to argue with you, Jacob, but as a chap who has twice married Hartlepool ladies, I have met many of their fans and not heard that one.
However, Frigilana's account of their being 2 municipalities, the current Mrs Sidders assures me is correct as is the story about the name change to Hartlepool United.

June 1908
On June 1st 1908 a limited liability company was registered under the name “The Hartlepools United Football Athletic Company Limited” with 2000 £1 shares offered to form a professional club. The shares are not fully subscribed, as there are doubts about professional sport, but Messrs R Martin and W Paterson, former vice-presidents of the rugby club and W J Coates, a former committee member formed the Board of directors of the new company. Although playing at the Victoria Ground, situated in West Hartlepool, the team is named Hartlepools United against public opinion as the company believe it should represent the two Hartlepool boroughs (Hartlepool and West Hartlepool).

Today we have two teams that are doing well both home and away respectively. Hartlepool are top of the form guide at home having won 7 and drawn 1 of their last 8. We are second to Sutton in the form guide away from home having won 4 and drawn 4 of our last 8. Hartlepool's goal to game ratio is less than ours.

On the face of it this game has 0-0 or 1-1 written all over it and I would be happy with a draw.

It cannot be understated how much of a boost a win would be today for the club, because it would be a massive win and be good for confidence as well as closing the gap on a rival.

I still believe that on our day we have nobody to fear in this league and can be a match for anyone. I'm also hoping that the Wrexham game was a turning point. It could well be a tight game today and one goal could win it for either side. Having said that maybe the Burchnall era will bring more goals scored and more goals conceded compared to the more cautious approach of the former manager.

Therefore cautiously optimistic;
