Safe at last! A comprehensive win at Fulham on Monday night guaranteed a sixth consecutive season in the Premier League. We can now concentrate on gaining as many points as possible from our three remaining fixtures starting with a home game against Leeds United. A word of caution here though. While Burnley have been excellent on the road of late our home form has been shoddy to say the least as we have now gone 8 games at Turf Moor without a win.

Back in December on a cabbage patch of a pitch at Elland Road referee Robert Jones awarded Leeds a very dubious penalty as early as the 5th minute as Patrick Bamford clashed with Nick Pope. Bamford dispatched the penalty and Leeds held out for a 1-0 win though the Clarets sense of injustice was doubled when Jones ruled out an equaliser by Ashley Barnes. In the build-up Meslier barged over Ben Mee in a failed attempt to gather a free kick only succeeding in dropping the ball at Barnes’s feet but incredibly Jones decided the Leeds keeper had been fouled. Bamford who had an unhappy spell at Burnley while on loan from then parent club Chelsea will be aiming to become the first Leeds player to score home and away in the same season against the Clarets since Peter Lorimer in 1974-75.

Nick Pope is doubtful to face Leeds with a niggling shoulder injury so BPF may be in goal against his former club. Chris Wood will hope to continue his hot scoring streak against the club he left to join Burnley. For Leeds Helder Costa is out but otherwise Leeds should be at full strength with Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips both returning from injury as Leeds beat Spurs 3-1 last time out.

This will be a Turf Moor baptism for Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa. For those of us of a certain age Leeds will always be “Dirty Dirty Leeds” because of their well-deserved reputation under Don Revie. I have been impressed however with the way this Leeds side are playing under the guidance of their Argentine coach. My only niggle is if we can learn to tango why does Marcelo still need an interpreter three years after being appointed head coach at Leeds? Just asking for a friend.

The match referee is Graham Scott with Darren England on VAR.

I doubt very much he does need an interpreter, he just finds it very 'convenient' to pretend he does.

45 minutes of dross mixed in with a bit of schoolboy defending gifting weeds the lead.

Exactly midfield jogging back again and defence backing off asking him to shoot , it’s very very poor
Face the ball up and make them beat you if he scores then fair enough but inviting him in is pathetic.

Burnley try playing football and immediately get countered 0-3.Well done Bielsa-perfect tactics.Shut our players down quickly and we make mistakes all over the park.

If ever there is a case for recruitment and young legs then this is it!!! Big job in the summer; we are too leggy with age for me. We have not even been able to fill the subs bench. Does anyone know what the situation is with Benson? I may have missed something!

They’re a good side CIB but nevertheless were simply short of quality , and talk about getting exposed with no pace.

It’s going to be a long season next year if we don’t recruit with some younger quicker quality , I have to say that Bielasa fit must be a level above Dyche fit though.

If Dyche stays and I’ve said this before I’d like to see him change tactically in games as we are so
Predictable in what we do - I appreciate that’s down to personnel as well but we can’t carry on like this.

It was obvious from the word go Bielsa`s tactics were to rush our players and it worked. We were completely exposed as lacking quality, pace, passing ability under pressure and then the manager not being able to change when things go wrong.
Really impressed with Leeds.

Anything more than 2 points in the opening 7 games and it will be a breeze.

I don’t think we have the squad to do it again Chris
Lowton , cork, JBG ( sicknote ) Barnes ( sicknote )
Brady ( sicknote) peters ( back up at best ) Beardsley ( age ).
Tarky ( probably off ) Pope ( could go tbh ) Mcneil ( could go with right offer ) Long ( age )

When you write it down like above it’s very worrying

That is the fourth or fifth time this season we have backed off players and they score

I have lost count of the number of goals we have conceded this season because opposing players have been allowed to run forty or fifty yards unscathed from the centre of midfield and score goals. Why Mee and Tarkowski constantly fail to come out and engage the threatening player is way beyond me.

The solution is obvious; buy, beg, steal or borrow a player like Kalvin Phillips, who can provide defensive cover in the final third, a player who will engage with the threat of a player who is running with the ball and turn the tap off this particularly worrying and season long supply line of threats on the Clarets goal.
