View Full Version : On a scale of 1-10 how optimistic are you?

The new signings are, for some, a cause to be optimistic. But listening to Radio Deedar tonight not everyone is thinking of a top 6 finish, let alone promotion.
So, if 10 is promotion and -10 is relegation, where are you. I'm an 8, top 6 but not automatic.

Is it a scale of 1-10 or -10 to +10?
mygiddypant, I always start with a 4 and hope it grows throughout the season. With the late late arrivals I’m starting on a 3 on Saturday.
Oh by the way, are you having another go on the prediction league ?

Massively, massively depends on whether we have finished with the "transfers out" if this is our squad I would be massively optimistic, although I'd prefer a new striker, but there's wicky in his last year and Barlaser on the best wages we can offer and probably wanting to play a level up plus smudge and ladypoo possibly moving on we could need to recruit to replace with at very short notice before spetembers deadline

We have kept most off the team that was 4 minutes away from staying in the championship.
Our manager has 2 promotions in 2 seasons in this league.
Top 6 minimum.
I expect us to be play offs finals at least.
Why wouldbt we be

I agree but I refer the right honorable gentlemen to my previous reply..aka it depends who feck off before the September deadline

At the moment I'm a 4/5 and until we get into september, when we know for definite what squad we have, I'll leave it at that. UTM
If we sign Jackson left back be a 9 from me that's a top 2 finish! We should now have plans to replace Smith in case he goes.

With the signings and hopefully more to come it’s a steady 6 from me top half finish
I think McDonald will leave don’t know about Smith he’s fundamental to how we play

It all depends where we finish in the league. If we get into the top 2 I'm optimistic we will go up. Though it could all depend on what position Peterborough are in.

I posted in another post that there are going to be be some good games, hopefully
in division one, a number of teams have spent a lot of money in search for what they
hope will be promotion.
I think this time it will be more difficult league than the last two promotions, with Warne
in charge, if Smith goes which I think he will, we will find it hard to get a replacement.
I think at best a league position of 6th in the league.

-10 (relegation) to +10 (promotion), so 1 would be mid-table.

You have to factor in the transfer window doesn't close until the end of the month, so there's plenty could happen between now and then. But the future is unknown.
If we don't score goals we don't go anywhere (stating the bleeding obvious), so that's the area we could be hardest hit if Smudge or Ladapo get nicked. Finding a replacement for one or both could be difficult.

Don't see Smudge going, super important to us but I don't see a strong market of teams clamouring for his services. Ladapo similar, useful but I doubt teams will fall over each other to sign him. Maybe it is wishful thinking but players such as Crooks and Ajayi have a bit more, an extra touch of quality and strengths in their position. I don't see Smudge being a difference maker for Championship teams. As much as I love him.

Some big teams this season. Top eight would be a good effort. Eighth to tenth my prediction.

There's been big clubs in div one for a few seasons now who all spend money and have big budgets but most bomb and do nothing
Tony usually says we have a top 4 budget so there's always three who have more resources than us.
Ipswich have a good Manager and have made some quality recruits so they are likely to be the ones to catch.
Wendy seem to be recruiting ex Cship players who have been discarded so they seem desperate rather than astute.
No reason why we can't finish in the top two again so it's a 9 on the board from me

We don’t fear big teams ! Sunderland are in disarray? Ipswich have been floundering for years, Wigan been in top division but not really a big team, Wednesday looking desperate and signing a lot of out of date players, Bolton on the up but know better than us, Portsmouth another team who have been on the rocks !
We can see most of these off and get promoted.
Looking at the Weds recruiting they’ve done well and now have players we would liked to have signed. Don’t let the green eyed monster distract you from that fact.
I can see Weds being well in the mix for promotion if it all clicks and falls into place.
The big thing for me though is they may well go into financial meltdown with the big wages they are about to start paying out!
I’m still on a 4 with us until the season gets going and hopefully we will push that figure to an 8 with a play off place.

Just an apology to Pocket if he's reading this that I haven't given it a resounding 10 .
If Kayode does well then we,ll have a good season but if not then we need another decent forward which isn't nailed on yet

No hedging bets with starting with a low number...building up to 10 when we're unbeaten in January!
If I went to sleep tonight and woke up 9 months later to find out we'd finished 7th I'd be massively disappointed.
Got to be a 9 .... but then again I am a happy clapper :)
