Burnley have ‘officially transmitted’ offer for winger – ‘Over €16m’, have ‘clearly taken lead’ over competition

For a few weeks now, Burnley have been after Maxwel Cornet, who appears to be on his way out of Lyon in Ligue 1.

Back in mid-July, L’Equipe in France claimed Sean Dyche’s side weren’t scared of the €13m asking price set by the French club for their winger, and it appears the first steps towards a transfer have been taken.

By that, we mean an offer has been made, as per Foot Mercato, who report on Friday that Burnley have put forward ‘over €16m’ for Cornet.

This was ‘officially transmitted’ to the French side, and, by doing so, means the Premier League club have ‘clearly taken a lead’ over the competition, which mostly consists of Hertha Berlin.

Since Lyon ‘wanted at least €15m’, the offer from Burnley ticks all their boxes, suggesting that, if Cornet wants the move, he might not stay much longer.

Now, we just have to wait and see if both the club and the winger accept the offer.

Worryingly he’s a left winger and us being us don’t offer money like that unless we know there is a counter action , ie McNeil is destined to leave.
Another position , right wing , right full back or centre mid , maybe ? But there’s an air of rubbish about it anyway - when did we ever offer more than the club say a player can leave for I mean come on ! Cheers

There is a lot of realism expressed on these blogs. It is one of SD’s favourite words. McNeil is a good player and it is inevitable that he will move on to further his career and maximise his earnings. It is better that we sell than wait for him to go on a free. BFC is in my blood, but realism tells me it will always be fighting to stay in the PL. it will never have any other ambition. Tarks back to Brentford?
