I’ve got no idea what any of this means

donsdaft

Let me explain it to you Mason min.

Cornhill is the local nutt hoose, a place where Lennon would be if he lived in the North East.

57vintage
10-12-2021, 10:33 AM
Cornhill is also a village in Banffshire (not ****ing Aberdeenshire), where the local pub, colloquially Peggy Duff’s, had a barman who told some under-age quaffers of my acquaintance, “If you’re auld enough to ride through hair, you’re auld enough to drink through froth”.

Anyway, **** this contrived attention-seeking, poorly-worded thread title pish. Just ****ing stop it.

Many drinks through froth are required to watch the double cup-winning heroes reset to factory settings by lining up 4-5-1 at home tomorrow.

I've just read the Supporter Info on the AFC website and was wondering exactly the same thing. That bit next to the artificial pitch is much bigger than they will need just for buses so presumably we will be okay to park cars as well? The car park at the South end looks like it is just for home supporters. It looks like we are a million miles away from selling out the away end so I've got to think there is plenty room for parking

JET did well, Bates is improving, Watkins had an off day.

Think we were lucky to come away with 3 points, but that’s football.

Good to see us grind out a win for once - an all too rare occurrence in recent times.

Didn’t see the game due to lack of a stream but listened on the radio. Jenks beginning to look useful. Hope he keeps it up.

Good to see Bates getting good reviews again, hopefully that’s the corner well and truly turned for him.

Also good to see us get away with one for a change. Clear handball, goal should have been disallowed - GIRFUY farmers 😂

3 wins from 3. Better. Keep it up. COYR.

Proof that Denbo/Panda has sold his tainted soul to the media. No Proper Mannies’ Aberdeen fan would grass up one of our players.

Aye, shameful .... and yet, Ah'm wonderin if there's somethin' wrang wi' ma glesses .... cos what Ah saw was non deliberate contact of the ball with an arm which was not in an unnatural position and no intent on the players part to use said arm to manipulate to advantage.

IFAB Rule Change for this season:
The second change is on accidental handball in the immediate build-up to a goal.

If an attacking player’s accidental handball immediately precedes another player scoring, the goal will now be awarded, when last season it was likely to have been ruled out.

However, a player will still be penalised if he commits an accidental handball immediately before scoring himself.

You didn’t buy them from me so they’re hardly going to be top notch are they.

What I can see with mine is that VAR may well not have helped the situation at all given the penalty awarded against Wolves yesterday in the English “ he who dives best wins” league.

September 1980.

Second leg of a League Cup tie v the Ibrox Liquidated.

Aggregate at 2-2 in the last minute. Hewitt fouled by Jackson a ba’ hair outside the penalty box.

GB Smith (a Pittodrie hate figure of the then future after awarding THAT penalty in the 1989 League Cup final) consults the standside linesman, whose response may have been “**** extra time Dod, I’m knackered, and I’m ****ed if I’m hanging aroon waiting for the late train. I believe, though stand to be corrected, the Bertie Miller "entitlement to go down through contact" incident may have been in the first leg of a UEFA cup tie versus Spurs at the Pitt.

Trailing to an early Ralph Coates goal, I recall Bertie going to ground in front of the Beach End leaving Hermit to tuck away the resulting spot kick.

It wasn’t an isolated incident.

I remember him being taken on as a Substitute once and the Beach End shouting “penalty “ as he was still only 10 yards from the dugout.

On that December 1972 day that Joe Harper was sold, and we drew 0-0 at home with Arbroath, I bumped into a student teacher who was on placement at our school, and watched the game from Section Y of the then south terracing with him. At one point, he roared, “You’re a ****ing fairy Bertie Miller”. New found respect from me for the rookie pedagogue. We never spoke of it thereafter, funnily enough.

"A ba' hair"?

By my memory it was a good few yards outside the box but the magnificent rolling from Hewitt made it a clear penalty. Haven't seen one like that in our favour since. A once in a lifetime event for Dons fans.

What is the official rule on unintentional hand ball in this scenario, ie, where a player unwittingly controls the ball with his, her (or any other modern-day term allowing for gender-fluidity) and that passage of play then leads to a goal? In other words, is there a distinction to be drawn between this type of situation and one where, eg, there is unintentional hand ball elsewhere on the park, where my understanding of the rules is that no foul is committed unless the hand is in an unnatural position? I’m seeking clarity, with specific reference to the rules, rather than opinions please. Either way, Jenks seems to have a great first “touch”! Not so sure, by the way, what “unnatural” is intended to mean, as our wrists, elbows and shoulders are, naturally, flexible … Durrant’s knee was in an unnatural position for sure if you get my drift.

I adopted the Scott McKenna Testicular Calibration System when referring to the variable ‘ba’ hair’ measure. Your own calculation may have been arrived at via the Gary Mackay-Steven Dimension or the Cwith Maguire Circumference.

Anyway, I was at the other end of the Soother.

It was, though, as you say, an occurrence less frequently observed than Halley’s Comet.

If my memory serves me correctly I was in the South, sitting in line with the 18 yard line. A good view of how far out the challenge/ hack was. I think the ref was really struggling to get up with play being around the half way line at the time. I've no idea what the linesman on the Main stand side was doing. Clearly before being an assistant and actually advising the ref, thankfully.

Despite being a 59 vintage myself, I am retired, due to an unfortunate personal circumstance. Now significantly improved. Cheers.

A 4 footed tackle by Messers Greig/ Hurlock sounds like a bad case. But surely nae quite as bad as a Sourpuss/ Forsyth effort. There's aye a bright side! As I said, hopefully now jandies free.

All plans (or in my case lack of plans) were put on hold for those of us unfortunate enough to retire in covid times. However that is a minor inconvenience compared to some. A little bit of boredom can be overcome. Some weren't given the opportunity.

I’ve been fortunate (and goodie-goodie play-the-game compliant) enough to have avoided the jandies. Sorry if the opposite was implied. You’re correct in saying that we’ve been relatively lucky in terms of not having had to worry about employment etc, as many have.

By compliant, I mean sitting on my erse reading (80+ books in ‘21 thus far) whilst drinking vats of filter coffee, and flaneuring my way around the ‘burbs for 4-5 miles daily.

Take care min.
