Just read online that ex-Newcastle striker Louis Saha, has told his former club to consider a late swoop for Sadio Mane. Bayern Munich have already approved the Senegal international attacker's departure this summer and talks over a switch to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr are currently ongoing.

But in the view of Saha, Mane could be worth a punt as he would add some much-needed experience to Eddie Howe's ranks while also bolstering their attacking options.

He told Betway: "Newcastle United need world-class players now, despite their amazing season, but they need players who have won titles and know how to win trophies.

"That's the club's next step, and players like Sadio Mane can definitely help and provide inspiration to the team to take them to the next level."

Mane is yet to have been linked with a return to the Premier League as he edges closer to the exit door in Munich.

The 31-year-old's agent Bjorn Bezemer is due to travel to Japan this week to hold concrete negotiations with Bayern over a move to Al Nassr.

The Saudi Arabian giants are ready to pair Mane with Cristiano Ronaldo and Anderson Talisca in attack in Riyadh as the Saudi Pro League revolution continues to take shape at eye-catching speed.

If Newcastle were to declare interest in hijacking the move, they would have to pay the player a significant salary in order to compete with Al Nassr.

The Magpies are already struggling to remain in compliance with FFP which is why they had to sell Allan Saint-Maximin to fund a deal for £38m new boy Harvey Barnes.

Saint-Maximin is heading to Al-Ahli in Saudi where he will team up with Roberto Firmino and Riyad Mahrez in attack.

Ultimately, Newcastle do not need any more wide players after also signing Anthony Gordon from Everton back in the January transfer window.

Also, Howe has made it clear that Newcastle are targeting a specific type of player and it's highly unlikely they would be interested in signing a 31-year-old on big wages.

Newcastle's recruitment since the £305m Saudi-backed takeover has been immaculate and has helped propel the club into the Champions League from fighting relegation.

The last three paragraphs are the ones to take note of.

I think he be a great signing if we could get him without breaking the wage structure

Not for me. Sounds risky unless he was cheap and took reasonable wages.

Ex-Man United Legend Saha tells Man U's direct competitor to immediately purchase an injury prone hasbeen, blowing a huge chunk of their transfer budget & lumbering them with massive wages on a player who will spend more time on the treatment table than on the pitch.

Yeah, nice one Louis, We should also go after McGuire for £80m and McTomiNOPE for £50m bang them both on £300k a week.

What a joke!

I can see why we'd go for him to be honest, his experience in CL would be brilliant also uptill this season I've never heard a bad word against him.

This season in German it seems like a lot went against him and what he thought he was promised.

I wouldn't say no to him but it would have to be on right wages and expectations on his behalf.

Sadio Mane (Bayern Munich) – £350,000 per week

I can't see him wanting to take a £150,000 per week pay cut that's if we offer him equal wages to Bruno.

I can't see us offering a 31 yr old 24541 how was out for 105 days last season a matching salary to our top earner.

Yeah man I'd be happy to see him play for NUFC for £80-100k a week (still mental to say that) & a transfer of £10-15m but that just isn't gonna happen.
