...to the Eddie Howe we knew and loved?

17 defeats this season compared with 5 in that 22/23 season.

Backwards, cowardly, boring and hugely inept football compared with our exciting, high pressing, quick passing style.

I've gone from being proud of our style to being embarrassed.

It's like two different managers. In fact. it's like 'original' Eddie and Bruce or McClaren. And that's not intended to be an insult-some folk have forgotten what this man has done for us-but, for me, it's an accurate and very unfortunate comparison.

Where I'm wavering in my support for Eddie is in that word 'done'.

Nobody can deny what he's done for us but, sadly, that's becoming less relevant to what he's doing now. And the 'doing' part stretches back to the last part of the previous season.

Eddie needs to change, to rediscover his balls...or he'll be changed. I hope it's the former but I'm not confident it will be.

Genuinely.

Could spend all day listing the negatives but is there anything we can take out of that ****show going forward? At the minute, I honestly can't think of one.

Maybe Osu;la showing a bit of potential? I mean, is that it??

Without googling - can you/we name the 15 above him.

1 and 2 should be very easy XD

Newcastle United are officially taking things into the future by recruiting a rising Silicon Valley star as they accelerate plans to build a data department they hope can rival the Premier League?s best. 🚀

The i Paper has revealed that Kaustubh Deshpande, a 26-year-old AI specialist who has joined from top US tech firm Scale AI, began work at the club?s Benton training base last week 🏢 This is far from your traditional footballing route, as he graduated from UCLA with a masters in applied statistics before going to work in Silicon Valley. There is immense satisfaction at the club that they have been able to attract a rising tech star to the North East, especially after Newcastle fought hard to get a work visa for Deshpande. 📑✈️

This isn't a one-off appointment either; it is part of a massive new vision for the club. Deshpande is set to be joined by a second data specialist early in the summer. 🤝 Ross Wilson and technical director Sudarshan Gopaladesikan are driving this strategy with the enthusiastic support of majority owners PIF. Club sources have stressed that the appointments should be viewed as part of a plan to 'build foundations' around the use of data at Newcastle rather than a short-term fix ahead of the next summer transfer window. 🧱📈

📊 Deshpande?s job will focus on recruitment but he is not a scout. He will not be finding the next Malick Thiaw or Sandro Tonali for Eddie Howe, but he will help build systems and software that could give Newcastle a cutting edge when it comes to evaluating potential targets 🛠️

The club are looking to get a deeper knowledge of the transfer market and crunch the numbers in a way that makes the almost endless amount of data out there more accessible. AI can be harnessed to accurately predict performance, injury risk or tactical fit. The club have already developed complex algorithms that quickly match players from around the world with their unique style of play but are keen to go much further. 🧠🧬

Imagine a tool where the scouting department can ask quick questions of complex data. Want a Bundesliga left-back under 24 who averages four progressive carries per game? Deshpande could help Newcastle develop their own ChatGPT-style chatbot to create that shortlist in seconds, and the report insists that it is just the tip of a very deep iceberg! 🧊🔥

The future is data-driven! 👀
------------------------------------------
Interesting to see but shows how far behind we still are comparatively.

Can only bode well for future though.

Only worry is that he'll think he can't get into tournment squads with us.

Newcastle United are set for a payday this summer, and it is all thanks to FIFA?s World Cup Club Benefits Programme💰

With the tournament kicking off on June 11th, the club gets ?8,200 per day for every single Geordie boy away on international duty 🤑

We already have Bruno Guimaraes repping Brazil, Yoane Wissa with DR Congo, and Anthony Elanga heading out with Sweden. 🌍 On top of that, we could see Anthony Gordon, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento, and Lewis Hall get the England nod, while Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw look likely to line up for Germany. 🇩🇪

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 That means for every single one of our lads that are away guarantees the club at least ?186,000 per player, and that figure could easily double if they go on a deep run into the knockout stages. 🚀

But here is where it gets interesting for our bank balance. 💸 Because of FIFA's rules, we also get a slice of the pie for any player who wore the black and white stripes within the last two years. That means we are splitting a payout with Liverpool for Alexander Isak following his ?125m move last summer, and we are also pocketing cash for Miguel Almiron?s run with Paraguay. 🇵🇾 While we won't get a penny for Elliot Anderson since he left early in 2024, the brilliant news is that even if Gordon moves on this summer, we still claim his full World Cup payout.
-------------------

Well all money coming in is good money I guess.

Let's get the flags flying, support the lads on the world stage, and watch the club bankroll a few extra quid

His development over the second half of this season makes me think we may have a player on our hands.

Still raw, aye, but improving with gametime and he's shown he has some impressive facets to his game. I think he may have a high ceiling if we can continue to develop him.

Being honest. I would have snapped Frankfurt's hand off for the 30 mil they were offering but now I'm glad we didn't.

Still a work in progress but that progress is definitely there.
