Now it gets a bit real.

Our two possible biggest prospects from last season (Clark, Ozoh) weren't 'ours' and we may never see them again. And if we get one, IMO it will be Ozoh who, to use the current phrase, is 'made of glass'. We have some promising fellahs (Fraulo, Thompson) but Oscar is too lightweight/inexperienced to run things on his own and Tompson has only achieved showing us his level which isn't high enough IMO. Eames may surprise us but isn't ready for a full season. And the most nailed-on member of any Rams team while JE is in charge (Travis) was last season's biggest disappointment. Again purely IMO this is our most critical area for attention

Want: New Enforcer, Ozoh, Clark
Expect: Travis, Fraulo, Ozoh or Clark
In reserve: Thompson, Eames, poss a redeployed Ward?

Will we find the right mix? to quote the iconic Mavis Riley, I don't rightly know

OT - The FIFA World Cup 2026, warts and all

As it's not long now I thought I'd start a thread for anything and everything related to the World Cup. I'll start off with the Law changes I've seen published and my thoughts on them. In no particular order:

A player who covers their mouth with their hand, arm or shirt in confrontational situations will receive a red card.
However, players who cover their mouths while having friendly conversations with club team mates on opposing teams, for example, will not be punished. So if Langas and Zets have a go at each other, mouthd covered they won't be sent off? SMH in disbelief. Allow it or don't. Will all refs know which opposing players play for the same club?

PLAYERS LEAVING FIELD OF PLAY
* Players who leave the field of play to protest about a referee's decision will be shown a red card.
* The rule will also apply to any team official who incites players to leave the field of play in protest.
* Teams which cause a match to be abandoned will now forfeit the match.
In agreement with this

THROW-IN AND GOAL-KICK COUNTDOWNS
* Referees will start a visual five-second countdown with a raised hand.
* If the ball is not in play at the end of the countdown, a throw-in is awarded to the opponents.
* If a goal-kick is not taken at the end of the countdown, a corner kick is awarded to the opponents.
In agreement with this

SUBSTITUTION PROTOCOL
* Players have 10 seconds to leave the field when the substitution board has been shown.
* Players must leave the field at the nearest point on the boundary line.
* If the player being substituted does not leave the field of play within 10 seconds, the substitute may enter only at the first stoppage after one minute has elapsed following the restart and the referee gives them the signal.
* Exceptions: player *injuries, concerns related to safety and security.
In agreement with this although when the exceptions are made clear, that might change

OFF-FIELD TREATMENT
* An outfield player must leave the field of play for one minute after the restart if medical staff entered the pitch to treat them.
* Exceptions: goalkeeper injuries, collisions between a goalkeeper and outfield player, collisions between team mates that need attention, severe injury (such as head injuries and concussions), or when the injured player is set to take a penalty.
In agreement with this although when the exceptions are made clear, that might change

VIDEO ASSISTANT REFEREE (VAR) PROTOCOL
VAR may now intervene for the following incidents:
* Red card issued from a clearly incorrect yellow card.
* Mistaken identity: a player is shown a yellow or red card for an offence committed by another player.
* Incorrectly awarded corner kicks: VAR can intervene if the decision can be corrected immediately without delaying the restart.
* VAR can now intervene when a foul is committed before play restarts (for example: when an attacker fouls a defender before the ball is in play from a set-piece).
"VAR will recommend an on-field review, following which, if the referee determines that an offence occurred before the ball was in play, the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken and the corner kick or free kick will be retaken"
In agreement with this, however, I'm unsure about the bit in bold. Does this rule out VAR giving decisions against defenders who foul an attacker before the ball is in play from a set-piece? If so, it's a nonsense. I've tried asking this questio to 3 different AI's, Google, Claude and Monica and they don't know the answer

My former club, I played for them, coached the youth goalies for about 10 years and was assistant coach of the "selection" (We had 8 teams, 3 played at a serious level and were the "selection" sides, the other 5 were "beer teams"?

Last season the 1st team played in what is the 8th level of Dutch football (was 7th in my day :P ). Finished 3rd, level on points with the #1 and #2 thanks to them both having had, respectively, 1 and 2 points deducted for infringements. GD was 23, 21 and 19.

In the same League next season, it looks like. Champs promote automatically. There are 2 places available in the playoffs. They go to the "Period Champions". It's a 24 game season, it is split into 2 "periods" of 12 games. The 2 period winners enter the playoffs unless one of them is also the champions, in which case the #2 from that period gets a playoff place. Naturally, if the Champs also finished top of both periods then the #2 from both would be in the playoffs. Unless, of course, the same team finished 2nd in both periods, in which case the #3 from P2 would take the 2nd PO place.

IMO we have a mighty pairing in the heart of defence in Langas and Clarke, with a more than capable
Sanderson as back up, and judging by the ongoing contract talks, a fourth choice in Batth who the manager trusts. BUT, do we maybe splash a bit of cash in this area to at least improve on Sanderson, to cover for inevitable injuries, suspensions, changes to three at the back and redeployment to full back in Langas' case?

So, for me:

Want: Langas, Clarke
Expect: Langas, Clarke with a new CH if we play 3/5 at the back
In reserve: Sanderson, Batth, new CH

All me previous musings/mutterings suggest to me at least that it is midfield and attack where the greatest uncertainties/changes lie

Anyone?

Trackdays offer a 30 or 60 minute driving lesson experience for 10-17 year olds, which takes place on a safe and controlled layout away from the public roads. These Young Driver Training Experiences are very similar to your first driving lesson as an adult, and provide excellent prior experience for kids who are showing interest in driving cars. Not only will this give them a confidence boost when it comes to starting their real driving lessons, but they will have a great day out.

... called up for the Norwegian World Cup squad. For his sake I'd love him to be a starter, subbed on for the last 25 would be good. Unused sub would be bad for him and us as he'd have to have the obligatory extra time off and join us late, especially if Norway go deep into the competition.

Dajaune Brown has been called up to the Jamaica squad ahead of the Unity Cup at Charlton?s Valley Stadium next week.

Hopefully he'll get some game time and show why he should be given a chance at DCFC this coming season.

OT - Has anyone seen Nigel?

Has anyone seen Nigel?

Seems strange that a man that courts publicity everyday from anyone that will stick a camera in his face his recent absence is telling!

Too many stories about the ?5 million ?gift? from an overseas crypto billionaire maybe?

It was for his security then it wasn?t.

It was for his many years campaigning for Brexit then it wasn?t.

Then saying he bought a ?1.4 million pound house from his fees on I?m A Celebrity only his very own accounts show that?s a lie as the timeline doesn?t add up.

The ?1.4 million house and the ?900,000 house both bought with CASH seem to tie up with this nice little ?gift? he got. He?s never explained as to where the money for the Clacton house came from apart from being caught out in yet another lie stating it was his girlfriend who bought it. It?s been proven she never had the financial resources to buy the house with cash in the first place.

So that?s ?2.3 million in property that it seems Harborne has given him with another ?2.7 million spare.

And where is Farage since this has come out? No PMQ?s, no press briefings, no TV appearances, nothing, he?s gone into hiding because he?s hiding something, that and the fact he tried to keep the ?gift? quiet is so very telling.

Explain me that he?s not corrupt to the core? I?ll wait.
