Starting to look cheap at £30 million...

He didn't want to come to Burnley and stayed at Chelsea to try ti win a regualr place in the team. He has done okay by going out on loan to Dortmund and he will probably end up there or somewhere else in Europe.
Good luck to him, he did his best for us and has certainly enjoyed his time at Dortmund and has a European Championship semi-final to look forward to.
Likewise with Tella who is getting a Bundesliga Champions Medal.
Just emphasizes the scale of our loss when TBH, Tella, and Maatsen left.
Discussed this a few times with folk around me and on here - it was easy to say we should have kept them but in the most we couldn’t
Firstly they cost most of our budget for the other players Maatsen 35 million and Tella 20 plus million and THB who City wouldn’t talk about selling under 30 million
On top of all that they didn’t want to come
Back to square one. Blame VK and recruitment
I don't put the blame on anyone.
Supersub6 once said on here that the devil's mix of agent's mischief, family matters, the player's own aspirations, wages and the pursuing club's reputation make it difficult for us to sign any player.
At least we have a manager with serious playing credentials but in both Maatsen and Tella's case 's it's hard not to think they both did what was best for them and look at how their moves have worked out for the pair.
Onwards & forwards! UTC#
Both Tella & THB would have happily signed for us.
Obviously Maatsen fancied his chances at Chelsea but we should have moved on quicker to get an alternative LB.
Nice to see all 3 doing well.
Indeed, but it's equally hard not to think they've both got incredibly lucky. Neither players nor their agents planned any of this, it's just the way the cookie's crumbled for them, nevertheless good luck to them, neither did us any harm, quite the opposite in fact.
Unfortunately for Ian Dortmund fell under the Real Madrid bus at Wembley and it was his mistake for the killer second goal.
