Another one gone too soon.
Sad news - a real shock. I remember him buying his first house in Knowle, in the same road as a mate. RIP Trevor
Bumped into him a number of times at football when he was a manager and also other occasions once when he was with family shopping in Birmingham, and we talked about the joys of Saturday shopping trips with family
Always found him to be accommodating, friendly and a real gentleman.
Sad loss
Scored the winner in the EC-final of 1979, Forest vs Swedish Malmö FF (a big surprise, Malmö FF reaching the final, English manager btw, Bob Houghton).
Saw him play for Blues v Leeds with mum and dad in 74 and what a player , he was electric.
Also saw him up front for Sheff Wed with David Hirst at our place in late 80’s or early 90’s and he was still lightening.
Never convincing for England but a club legend for Forest and Blues greatest ever player.
Ironic really, always looked fit as a fiddle and still lean and fast in his late 30’s, it’s the genetics that often get you in the end.
Just woken up after night shift to find this on here so quite a shock!. As my dad was a Blues fan he used to take us kids fairly often to St. Andrews when we were young and still vividly remember seeing him play. He was quite young himself then. Also met him once or twice and recall him being quite a nice and modest man. A brilliant player for Blues and I can clearly remember all the publicity of him being the first "million pound" player when he moved to Forest in 1979. To think that this seemed like an almost unimaginable fee back then !
As Mick says, he never really seemed to be at his best when playing for England but a true club legend at both Birmingham and Forest. Another who has passed too soon. RIP.
Before my time really but have read about him and he was Britons first 1 million pound footballer. Proper football days according to my Dad.
RIP.
R.I.P Trevor top player.
