o/t copyright law and youtube
Just wondering if there was any copyright issues with using images on youtube?
I have a friend who is wanting to use a sequence of still images backed by an audio commentary and music.
The music and commentary are original so there is no issue there, but the images will be drawn from a number of different sources off the web.
Would the photos need to be credited on the short film or is it like music, that you can use an image for a very short period of time without having to acknowledge it?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Not sure , but a couple I have posted have advisory messages in (My vids)saying that they contain copyrighted material.
It is not up to You tube to stop it , but the owner of the material.
If it was all taken off, I think there would be about 2 films left on the site.

Always acknowledge the work done by others, if possible / financially viable also ask permission first.
That's what I'd do anyways

re: o/t copyright law and youtube
we used a Fractal video some time ago that someone had made ,which was nothing short awesome and a lot of hard work making it,but i just sent a message asking if i could add it to our track we had wrote and the guy was more than happy to get it more exposure and thought it cool i asked and wanted to use it.
Ill bet most people will have same reaction unless they themselves are bound into contract in some way.
