Dartford Tunnel/Bridge Crossing - ew Charge and requirement

Don't know how many on here use it but we got a leaflet in the post telling us that from October 2014 won't be able to just turn up and pay at the Toll Booth.

Leaflet goes on about pre booking if using the crossing between 6 am and 10 pm .

Advises setting up an account and paying by online/text etc.

Some Genius in the Highway department has come up this idea not taking into account travelers from abroad or casual ones etc etc.

Might affect fans going to Saafend next season if they are still in L2

I used the Dartford Tunnel a few weeks ago - going through at around 9.30 the queues both ways were ridiculous. I made sure I had the right change and sailed through. The queue for the booths that didn't have the right change was ridiculously long. Just goes to show how impractical it is to pay in the first place.

Anyway, why do we still have to pay for?

yes,they're getting rid of a load of staff,to save money :O only use it in my truck,and we have 'Dart tags'.don't know how any of our drivers will get on who haven't got one and need to use the crossing

thanks BC for that, seems it is going to be like the Congestion charge. if you don't pay in advance you can pay within time span. typical to put an obstruction in the middle of the M25, bit like the roundabout on A3. :blue: - view external link
