Dirty Sri Lankans

Think they reached a new low yesterday. Not content with fielding a known chucker who is being sent to Australia for remedial work on his action, they then allowed him to Mankad the star England batsman just as he was about to tee off. Almost certainly decided the game given how close it was in the end, an extra 20-30 from Buttler would have made the difference.

The Mankad rule is there to prevent batsmen stealing runs, they knew Buttler wasn't doing that and decided that win at all costs was more important.

Test series should be spicey now, the skipper can expect a hard time through it.

The game of Cricket stooped to an all time low for me yesterday. However there are some who will disagree and say that Buttler had been warned. Therefore he should have kept his bat grounded as I was taught to many years ago :blue:

If you're sticking to the laws of the game you could say it was Senanayake's only legal dismissal of the series!!

Surely by going down the pitch the non striking batsman is trying to steal an advantage and is prepared to risk a run out to gain it. The bowler warned him on two occasions not to do it. He then removed the bails and the batsman given out.
To skirt round the rules and hope to get away with it by relying on the fielding side to be a sport and look the other way seems foolhardy to me.
If you cheat and get caught after being given fair warning, then don't whine afterwards.
Same as diving in football to gain unfair advantage, shouldn't do it.

More to the point, why are we even playing them?

South Africa were banned from cricket for years due to the apartheid culture yet everyone ignores the genocide going on today in Sri Lanka.

England, well lets not cloud the issue which is we bat far too slowly. Is Cookie a one day batsmen?? His captaincy is too defensive for limited overs IMO.
Sad to say that I feel slightly disillusioned with England atm, to me the disposal of KP was all about getting Moores back. Nothing more nothing less. Yet to be convinced by him.
And going to the test level yet to be convinced of Cook as captain of that form of the game. They so want him to succeed, but he doesn't have that nouse to go for throat.
I forecast we'd have some lean years & IMO I reckon I'll be proved right.
See that Downton has apologised to KP for his "not trying" remarks. Its shambolic atm.

The ball is in play from the moment the bowler starts his run up, and goes dead at the moment it's in the wicketkeeper's or bowler's hands (and at various other times such as wickets falling, etc)

betalucky is right & lets not forget that Buttler was warned about it before it happened. Blaming the result on that one incident is just clouding over what was another mainly pedestrian batting performance.
