Great news - can anyone guess who?
Not sure, though Henry Weir (formerly of Crewe vagrants) was part of the England hockey squad that came 4th at the World Cup under controversial circumstances.
For those not in the know, the Argentinian side had an extra man on the field for 2 and a half minutes. The punishment, that their captain misses the next match, which is likely to be a friendly.
He was in the 1966 England soccer squad.;D
Ian Callaghan?
Looks like you're right Crewedaft. Seems he played the last game of his career for us in 1982. Good 'un. :star:Quote:

I was a bit surprised when I found out that he played for the Alex as I have been a supporter since 1959. I did miss a couple of seasons in the very early eighties due to work pressures.
Can anyone tell me how he performed in his 15 games for us?
From memory he had some nice touches but had lost all pace and was fighting a losing battle playing in what was probably Crewe's worst ever side.Quote:

Who was the last Crewe player to appear in the World Cup whilst still playing at Crewe
Efe Sodje, back in 2002. Played against England and Argentina.
