Pienaar Groin Injury To Be Assessed

Pienaar Injured In Toffees' Draw With Arsenal.

Steven Pienaar came off injured after just 10 minutes in Everton's 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.

The former Bafana Bafana captain endured a injury-hit 2013-2014 campaign and looked to have overcome his injuries this season, but he had to be replaced in the 10th minute on Saturday evening.

Roberto Martinez confirmed in the week that Pienaar was carrying a knock and had to be strapped to play against the Gunners, but the Spaniard confirmed it was a problem with his groin.

"Steven felt his groin and we will have to assess him," Martinez told the club's official website.

"It was a real negative because to lose a player of Stevie’s quality so early in the game affected us."

Gutted to see him come off. Hope he's not out too long. Felt he and Baines could have made the win-factor difference up their vulnerable right hand side today, especially after how they both played last week.
