AC Milan planning to swoop for Everton midfielder James McCarthy.


AC Milan have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

The Irish international is allegedly unsettled on Merseyside due to protracted issues surrounding a new contract.

Although McCarthy is highly-rated by Everton boss Roberto Martinez, who hailed him as a ‘tactical genius’, he has not been offered a new contract despite voicing his desire for improved terms.

The players’ representatives have met both Milan clubs in the past week to discuss a potential deal but McCarthy is not short of suitors in the Premier League.

If Milan are serious about signing McCarthy they would have to fend off serious interest in the player from Manchester United, as well as Arsenal and Liverpool, who are also monitoring his situation.
