What do you lot think of him returning to football?
Personally I'm of the opinion that given the hight profile of professional football he should be banned for life, I know not everyone agrees with this and that some believe he's done his time etc. As I soldier I would have been discharged if convicted of rape, a line which would be taken by many many other professions.
As a side note, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being signed by Redcrapp!!

I would guess there are a few football players thinking "There, but for the grace of God, go I".
I remember the uproar and feeling of disgust, when I heard that Steve Moran and Mark Wright had been accused of rape, when the club was in Sweden, many years ago.
In their case, the matter was dropped, but it highlighted the potential for this type of situation to occur, as long ago as 1982.
Chances are, thousands of fans are already idolising players, that have participated in similar ***ual encounters.
Physical rape is psychological murder. He didn't get anywhere near long enough. He should never be allowed to return to such a high yielding profession. I also heard his victim has gone in to hiding in the wake of this. They should feed him to the sharks.
If he had shown any level of remorse, and perhaps even highlighted his own case as an example to youths then you could argue he could return to the game. It could have been used in some kind of positive light.
But the fact he still protests his innocence should mean he's allowed nowhere near a football club.
The PFA have put Sheff Utd in a horrific position.

Not sure how you can consent to *** when you're unconscious. She had gone to the hotel with another man and when she fell

I tend to agree with much of that. As far as he's concerned if he believes he's innocent then why should he apologise.

It could be argued that he has done his time and paid his debt to society. But as a high profile sportsman he is also a role model and his potential return sets a terrible example. I think Sheffield Utd are in danger of getting themselves in a proper mess over this.
Probably better if he finds some other form of low profile employment.
