Beany Russell

Today was a good example to say we seen the two sides - good and bad - of Ian Russell . The good was the cavalier , devil may care running at the Hearts defenders in the second half. The bad was the petulant slap ( was it ?) at the Hearts player right in front of the linesman who seemed to ignore it thankfully. Got a yellow off the ref when in this day and age it could easily have been a red. What goes on in that mind ? We really cannot afford him to do anything daft like that next Friday because it could easily be a different colour of card.

Today was his 6th booking in the league which leads to a 1 match suspension . He'll miss the Cowdenbeath game at Palmerston on Dec 20th

Could the Cowdenbeath game possibly be the return of Paton if Beanie is suspended???

Agree it could have been a different colour of card, especially when the Hearts player dropped as if he had been pole axed. It was a petulant slap, but in this day and age he was lucky to get away with it, as was the Hearts player for his acting.

The referee took his time to sort out the stramash, leaving me convinced that it was his intention to show Russelll a red card. Fortunately it was only yellow but, as the TV pundits are wont to say, he gave the referee the opportunity to send him off. I also thought that during that incident Higgins, with his protest, looked as if he were intent on testing the referee's patience beyond a yellow card.

Agree beany was looking a likely candidate for a sending off but he had a cracking game. Virtually nothing went down the other flank. Beanie and mcshane outstanding imo. Referee tested everyones patience i think.

Beany & Higgins are both players who always pick up bookings and are unfortunately never going to change .

Both cracking & important players for Queens

The difference between Higgins and Beany's yellows cards is, Higgins are more down to clumsy challengers where as most of Beany's could be avoided if he lost the bravado attitude.

Referee's must be lost this year not having McKenna to book XD

I have watched the clips over and over to see what I missed. To my eyes, Pallardo dropped but there was no illegitimate contact from Russell. Basically the Hearts player was guilty of simulation with the intention of having the Queens player sent off. An alternative explanation might be that he was keen to avoid a card himself for a bad tackle. Higgins was struck on the face by Buaban and reacted angrily. Will there be some retrospective action against the Hearts players?

Frustrating to watch Beanie sometimes as he blows hot and cold often in the same game but still a good player to have in your side with his goalscoring ability.
