Queens Starting 11 and formation v Falkirk Scot Cup
Now that we know roughly where we are about for Friday night what does everyone think the formation/starting 11 should be for Falkirk?
Obviously you could do 2 teams (with/without Gavin).
I think inspite of potentially being without BOTH our top scorers being at home we have to be very attack minded.

Play with two out and out strikers with the aim of stretching Falkirk.
Hearts last Saturday were far too comfortable in the 2nd half and were able to push forward at every opportunity.
Queens must be more proactive and prevent Loy and company from asserting themselves on the game.

I have heard that the odds are on Gavin starting BUT let's hope he does not pull up injured if he does . Honest to goodness , I am quite dumbstruck that we have started the last two games with one recognised forward . Simply not good enough for me and don't say that was all we had because Russell can do that particular job. Serious question. Even if Reilly starts , will he play up front on his own with a midfielder offering him support ?

Atkinson
Dowie Higgins Durnan
Carmichael Kidd Burns McShane Holt
Reilly Russell
If Reilly not fit Paton in that position.

Falkirk will only have Loy up front, so will flood the midfield.
Queens strikers have lost their shooting boots at the moment. If Gav is back i think we will win this tie if he isn't then it'll be very difficult.
If fit i would start with this eleven.

In the St Johnstone programme Lewis Kidd stated that he could also play as a striker.
Would it be worth a gamble versus the Bairns utilising his hard running and youthful enthusiasm in a more advanced role than he currently plays in ?

Aye i'm sure Kidd could play as a striker, as could Holt. But i think Kidd would be better used as an attacking midfielder, bursting through as he would be harder to mark.

Presuming that Ian Russell will have to be moved up top would I be right in saying that we don't have anyone else that can do a good job on the left hand side of Midfield apart from Holt?
re: Queens Starting 11 and formation v Falkirk Scot Cup
The Manager gets paid to make these decisions, I'll leave it in his capable hands and turn up and support whichever 11 he chooses. We have no reason to fear Falkirk.

I think, but not sure, that we have started 6 games this season with 1 striker, either in 4-4-1-1 or 3-6-1 (or however you want to dress it up).
In those games, we've scored 4 goals and 2 of them came after the formation was changed to be a more conventional 2. I think the only goals we've scored while playing 1 out and out striker were 1 each v Hibs and Hearts at home. And we failed to score at all against Cowdenbeath and Dumbarton away.
We should start with Russell and Reilly (if fit). But I suspect we won't, perhaps because if you play both, it limits your options on the bench. I would definitely play both, but since we have been reduced to having only 2 fit strikers, Fowler has played only one of them from the start.
Why did we not get a replacement for Baird? Was it Fowler who decided we didn't need one? Or did he think we needed one, but we couldn't get anybody? Or was he told he wasn't allowed to sign anybody?
