Charities for the needy Africans
Just seen John Bishop almost in tears pleading for people to buy mosquito nets 2 for a fiver or four for a tenner
Good maths indeed
But forgive me if I sound heartless but how many decades have the UK been raising dosh for these awfully poor people.
Makes me sad to see images of the malnutrition people and in particular babies
But where the phook has all the money gone so that they can't afford a couple of quid for a piece of net

Could not agree more Gaz, every year its the same. They have their hands out while their governments don't help their own people.
Also a couple of years ago Gordon Brown sent a couple of hundred million pounds for everyone out there to buy their own nets.
However having worked in Africa for several years the scale of corruption is massive. In Nigeria you have to bribe everyone to get anything done.
So how much of our money gets to the people who need it, not many I would think.

Absolutely my thoughts too Claw
Which is why they won't be getting a penny from me
If I could give a net or a few dollars to the individuals in person I would be happy to do so
re: Charities for the needy Africans
I guess Swindon FC could donate a few nets. The nets that Swindon forwards aim at are virtually untouched I would think?
I could have said the same about Millwall, but it would be unwise to get on the wrong side of Claw ;D

Unfortunately it's a bottomless pit and the more money that is thrown at them the more the infrastructure will struggle to cope. Africa is a torrid landscape and cannot cope with the population explosions of various countries. Mother Nature sorts this sort of sh1t out and while the animal kingdom takes it's losses it then recovers naturally. In my opinion and I know it's harsh but us giving, giving and more giving is actually making the situation worse.

Hey gards, thats the attitude the Premier league clubs have towards the 1st and 2nd divisions >:)
re: Charities for the needy Africans
Where will it all end and whose pockets are being lined?
Not sure we can morally sit back and do nowt but ffs how much does it take?

That's a brilliant likeness Lawrie.
Yes Gaz, we should sit back and do absolutely nowt for the reasons above in this thread, you may think that its a bit harsh which it is, but it will never get any better for folk in these sort of Countries however much money/material we send over, Christ we have been doing it years yet things seem to get worse, its a never ending circle.
Adopt a Snow Leopard, Adopt a Polar Bear (We'll even send you your own photo of your Adopted Animal FFS ! ) Rescue and give money for a Donkey, Rescue and give money for a Dog, Rescue and give money for little Johnny, he's been neglected starved and beaten, these last 3 are more important because they happen in OUR Country, but that's what the Government of THIS Country is there for, they should sort it instead of donations from the general public.

The fact that their Governments don't help their people is due to European powers educating those Africans who can be relied on to deliver Africa's mineral resources to the West at knock down prices. Government aid goes to build roads and airports, anything that facilitates a quicker transfer including rewarding the African elite. Starvation didn't exist there, because tribal Africans were migratory and used to follow seasonal weather patterns just like African wildlife does. Only when the Europeans arrived and competing colonial powers drew lines across the map did migration stop and starvation begin.

What a complete and utter load of tosh, their Governments don't help their own people because they are all on the take filling their own pockets. They don't care about their people. I know I worked out there for years. Once when I landed at Lagos airport because my visa was out of date the Officer said you will be deported or go
