good amongst the bad

i recently was talking with a mate of the good days WEDNESDAY have had since we were relegated from the prem 15 years or so ago.
times may have been tough and we have certainly had far more bad days than good but there has been the odd ray of sun than has shone through.
my personal favourite was dancing with some old fella after watsons goal in the 1-0 derby win, F**KING ACE!!!! the glee we both felt was better than anything else i can remember. we were so rubbish and the porkers were supposed to be so good XD XD
there's also the play off final, the support was unbelievable!
cardiff before the game was just wall to wall with WEDNESDAYITES.
its a top feeling to win a play off final :)

Cardiff was unreal...What an absolutely brilliant day from waking up very early in the morning to getting home very late full of joy (and ale) and a bank holiday the next day to celebrate even more. Will always remember the coaches (ours included) being clapped in. And thousands upon thousands of Owls lining the streets..A sea of blue and white..Over fourty thousand tickets sold (one for Mahat to chew over).

Coppers playing footy with Wednesdayites in the street...The big red pub on the corner (forgot the) that had three floors to it...And Chrissy Waddle stood with Michael Vaughan with four cans of beer each at their feet...

Then in the ground when the players came out...I actually cried like a big babby..XD

The match itself..Had everything.

My uncle taped me the lot and I watched it all the next day before we all went out to get sozzled at dinner..Sturrock's interview was awesome..When he was asked what he thought of the game he just looked up into the Millenium and said "ju

Cardiff was fantastic.

We didn't even end up in a pub before the match because it was a better atmosphere on the street with the football.

The game its self was emotionally draining. But I don't think I've ever celebrated a goal as much as when Talbot ran past the keeper and slotted it home to win us promotion.

After the match I saw Big Ron and he was over the moon with the result.

We got back on our minubus after a few celebratory drinks, 'We Are the Owls' CD was playing on repeat and it was literally bouncing whilst stuck in traffic on the motorway...then we Saw Lee Bullen running down the motorway (stuck in traffic) with the trophy XD

We stopped off at what we thought would be a quiet pub at the border, only to find it rammed with Wednesdayites and a live band playing 'singing the blues'. Incredible day.

The season we beat the pigs to promotion is up there. Having a drink with Milan after winning promotion against Wycombe, THAT Brentford game after we won 2-1 and the pigs d

Going back further than fif**** years the thing that stands out for me are the Jack Charlton days...things were really bad before he came, I remember sitting in the North on the same row as Jack when he was watching us before he took us on...people kept going up to him & shaking his hand & pretty much begging him to come to us.

I think it was straight after that game when he went to the board & agreed to manage us, he worked without a contract which I thought was refreshing, Jack turned us around & brought some bright days to Hillsborough which at one point I though would never return...Big Jack, a true legend.
