The football match today.
I wasn't that interested in the gate today, I was more interested in what was happening on the pitch. I'll give my (very short) summary. First 15 we were all over D&R (not even sure if they had any possession). We hadn't capitalised on our play in terms of a goal. By about 20-25 mins the game was dying, we had not pushed on. I started to play with my mobile. Atmosphere though, was very good. There was only ever going to be one result. I was disappointed with the amount of West Ham that came down. For the first game of the season and its only up the road, the Daggers should take a look at themselves (fair play to them respecting the applause for KM). First half fizzled. Evans jumped for the crucial first. There were fans around me who were asking 'who the **** is he?'. Just what we needed. Then Bennett took over. Cut in from the left twice (sheer class) to seal the win.
Summary: Bennett looks absolutely in a different league. Also thought Burgess was stand-out. Hollands was effectiv

Cant argue with that, a very good summary....Burgess won everything in the air, no surprise the size he is.. Murphy's kicking and Stevens crosses had me and others groaning. Fair play to Stevens for getting down the left wing however. Oh for an Archie Styles educated left foot. The influential Roberts won the Man of the Match award but I'd have given it to Bennett on this occasion. Dagenham were very poor, Murphs had a couple of crosses to deal with and one shot which went into the side netting. We have far bigger tests to come but if we can keep Roberts, Bennett and Doyle fit, we are going to have a far better season than the one we endured last season for sure,

First time in a long time we had a plan/vision/style, call it what you will, and stuck to it. Impressed by the early possession play which, whilst it didn't yield results in terms of goals in the first half, blew the Daggers gasket making them easy meat in the second. Liked not seeing the usual ploy of taking a lead and then sitting back in our own pen area and getting mugged. Roberts and Burgess excellent. Bennett outstanding. Jed who?
A very nice trip back up the A34 in the evening sunshine.
