An area for paying customers is needed on the buses in Portsmouth, it's a nightmare at the moment, i tried to get on the x4 to Gunwharf and was told I couldn't get on the bus as it was full and wasn't allowed to stand as it goes down the motorway, the whole bus was full of oap's, so ended up walking to allaway Ave and getting a bus from there
You youngsters should get up earlier and use the buses before us wrinklies are allowed on with our bus passes. ;)

Haven't got a problem with oap's having bus passes, I could have been a young mum with a pram and still would of been refused entry, maybe just a quarter of the bus could be set aside for non oap's, so that everyone gets a chance of getting from A to B
Just look out for a double decker. No one with a bus pass ever ventures up there.

Steve, just to correct you on one point. I am assuming that this X4 bus starts from Hillsley Road in Paulsgrove and that you walked down to Allaway Avenue to catch the one which comes from Browning Avenue and goes "dane the tane" or to "Cosh'em/Cozzam".
You stated you only wanted to get from A to B. In fact you DID get from 21 to A, these being the old route numbers and letters when bus routes were extended beyond "Wymering Garden City", the pre-war, into Paulsgrove. The 21 was then renumbered number 3/4 and the A/B was renumbered 1/2 which ran all the way down Commercial Road, Palmerston Road and South Parade Pier, then via Winter Road, Copnor Bridge and the Coach & horses to Cosham Red Lion, ehereupon the 1 changed to 6 and ran down via Copnor Bridge, Eastney and SPP to the Dockyard Main Gate, changing to 5 and running the reverse route back to Cosham where it morphed once more into a number 2 for Paulsgrove via Copnor, Winter Road, SPP, Commercial Ro
I can actually remember KK numbers worn by conductors on a round badge with a perspex (plastic?) cover.
