lamberts obsession with the direct style
Lambert in recent matches has favoured the direct style of play
has it worked?in my opinion no
now I am not against this style of play and against certain teams it's a good weapon
Lambert needs to go back to his first few weeks we were playing the pressing style without the need to hoof it skyward
we had Lawrence alongside Rhodes which worked and we have caused teams alot of problems
now we look one dimensional and koite and Brown seemed to be preferred alongside rhodes
the direct style is quite easy to play against and only the more free flowing teams struggle against this
how many of these do we have in the championship?not many
would love to go back to Lawrence or even Taylor alongside rhodes against Boro but as soon as koita or Brown's is mentioned you know how we will play.
re: lamberts obsession with the direct style
It is a question of keeping all the options open. At Villa, he developed a counter-attacking style that the fans eventually became disillusioned with, but he often put attacking teams out at Norwich. At least that suggests he CAN be flexible.
re: lamberts obsession with the direct style
Like any other approach, the direct style we are employing needs time to click. Be patient.
