just been reading if prosecutors in new york can use a parrot as a witness
in a murder trial..

Apparently a parrot served as a witness in the trial of a New Orleans crime boss. And in France, a dog was a witness in a murder trial.
I'm assuming there's no laws regarding it. But imagine it's a risky choice by the prosecution as you have no idea how the animal will react.
