Stones £50m!! Must make young Will worth £35m at least. ;D
If Stones could stop believing the hype, there's a decent player in there somewhere - seems a bit too keen to show that's he's a ball-playing centre-half and tends to forget the defending bit a little too often......
Welcome to the world of market forces. I see no reason why we're heading for oblivion, transfer fees have risen steadily for as long as I've been watching. Interestingly when Real bought Zidane, they spent half there annual turnover on him, when they broke the record for bale it was much less, about a quarter I think. So if anything it's getting more frugal, there is just a hell of a lot of money in the game and players are the greatest assets.
As an addendum the older generation have always complained about this. "A million pounds for Francis?" The worlds gone mad!! "5mill for Sutton!!?" Etc etc. Music was better in my generation too.
It is all relative, the amount of money in the premier league is so vast, that in real terms clubs are not really spending that much more compared to their income.
I guess the bubble will burst when the TV deals stop, until then this is the reality.
Exactly my point. And then when the TVs money stops rising so will transfer fees etc.
