Naming And Shaming Poor Player Performances In The Press

Should manager's/head coaches keep their opinions and save them for the dressing room? Jose Mourinho openly criticised Luke Shaw after the Watford defeat. Walter Zenga himself said after the Barnsley defeat that the Wolves players basically 'gave up' without naming individuals. Nowadays the press are there minutes after a game without giving those in charge time to gain their thoughts. Some may think it's best to keep discussions on where a game has been won or lost in the dressing room. I don't think any individual in any aspects of life should be immune from criticism as long as it's done in the right way.

Manager's publicly criticizing a team performance in most circumstances is fine, singling out individuals I don't see any benefit in that, it may effect team morale not just the individual.

Depends on how it's done. If the manager is "throwing him under the bus" as they say, it's not professional and it is an attempt by the manager to distance himself from any responsibility he had for the performance.

Sometimes it's all a game for the press and the manager is just attempting to motivate.

Don't believe in naming and shaming individuals. You win and lose as a team. Just shows you Jose has lost it and that Man U are a set of individuals rather than a team.
