O/T Cowards.

Are those who champion liberal, multi-cultural, equality and diversity ideas a set of cowards?

They oppose people who criticise Muslims as racists, yet refuse to challenge the same religion on its views on homo***uality, FGM and gender oppression?

Are they afraid of retribution? Do liberals fear the threat of violence or terrorist attacks if they speak out against Muslims? There just doesn't seem to be any cohesion to their ideas.

So often the liberals will go for the jugular when talking about Christianity, but this is because they know Christians will not respond with threats of violence and intimidation, which incidentally shows how tolerant Christianity is.

I am just wondering if any of them actually have the b alls to tackle the issues they claim to care about or are they just going to ignore these issues and stick the boot into meek old ladies who make jam for the local church fundraiser?

Is your typical white middle class social worker/ community worker/ LGBT counsellor/ afraid to speak out against the aforementioned issues because they will fear the cold shoulder from their Muslim co-workers?

This is a genuine enquiry as I think I might join those who support equality and diversity if they can clarify their stance.

I once upset a LGBT counsellor by asking her how the the Bs and Ts felt about being lumped in with the Ls and Gs.

Islam is a backwards religion that has a terrible history of repressing women, gay people and many others.

The same is true of your beloved Christianity.

Judging an entire group based on the actions of a minority is by definition racist. Criticising primitive ideology is fine.

When I was at college I used to have in depth arguements with my muslim friends about their religion and associated attitudes towards women and homo***uals. I have no fear of condeming these views, never have and never will.

I debate people where I encounter them. There aren't many muslims openly posting on millersmad so it doesn't get here.

We do, on the other hand, have some posters who advocate the backwards Christian idology and then get all defensive when it is critiqued, and upset and say "why don't you criticise the muslims boohoo".

I'll gladly condemn all backwards and primitive world views, just with the appropriate audience.

Arguement is the american spelling. I don't know how much of my choice of spelling is because of my time living in the US, and how much is because my browser spell checker defaults to the US dictionary.

What I do know is I don't care how I spell it, only unbareable pedants would take issue, and that thought amuses me.

You're lucky to be able to debate with muslims. It is felt by many that just talking to muslims is risky.

The fear of saying the wrong thing or asking a question that may offend is a step too far for most.

Not many young (christian) people have read the bible these days so wouldn't consider reading the quran. How can you argue something you know only what you read on the news?
