Lenihan at centre-back
I watched Lenihan closely today, and it struck me that his positional play from set pieces and crosses is a bit naive. He was often not in a position to attack the high ball. You really need your centre-backs to get that first touch. His general play is fine, but that aspect of his game definitely needs work. In contrast, Greer's problem is a lack of pace, but we already knew that. (One question, though. Where were they both when United equalized?)
I suspect our first-choice pairing this season would have been Ward and Hoban, but injuries have made that impossible.
Incidentally, I thought that both Lowe and Williams did ok, considering what they were facing.
As I said on the other thread, it's hard to know why we are the bottom. A lack of confidence, more than anything else, probably.
The Burton game is growing and growing in importance. If we DO win there, that might launch a recovery. Lose...and things will look very bleak.

Admit I did not 'study' in that much depth Aucks.
But my overall judgement was: well played lads, you did not let the shirt down.
For me the stand out, and by far the best I've seen him play was Emnes. I am going to put that down to him being in a show case game for a change, and putting himself in the frame. I suspect that Mahoney just playing his 'normal' std did more than enough to have made many take note, and with that possibly/probably quite a stride to the exit door.
That was a cracking goal for us, even had JM clapping and nodding in appreciation.
As good, cool and clinical was their winner, but oh so easily 'manufactured', as was the equaliser.
However, yes this is how this team can play, when the motivation and/or mood takes them. So where does that leave us ?
If this proves a catalyst to a new found vigour and with that an upturn in consecutive results, that's great. If however, it goes a little flat from here and we return to our stop start points returns, it is as you say (beyond this brief respite) back to the gloom of what next.

If you can play well against a Manchester United you can play well against a Burton Albion
Motivation seems very questionable with our team
home and away wins playing Newcastle but struggle playing teams around us.
