Sponsor a player

I was looking forward to sponsoring a player's boots again this season as I've done for the last five years. However, it bows seems I won't be doing this the club have restricted sponsorship to a whole player @£185 a throw.
Another great move by marketing - yes they MIGHT attract some business or groups like Sandbach Travelling Alex but it's a slap Inthe face for the individual fan who may have felt a bond with the club by part sponsoring.
I can see a business case for but why cut out the individual fan. Why is there no alternative option for individuals to show their connection?
Marketing? Fans? Blind spot?
